Okay, so I'm not generally someone who goes out drinking and/or clubbing...

but last night the school had some silly awards ceremony that was basically just a whole lot mutual back-patting (to put it in a non-crude manner), and the president of the sci-fi club had to go. We didn't want her to go alone, so a bunch of us went too.

So all of us geeks got all dressed up and cleaned up and whatnot. Which was just weird for most of us. Our president is a complete tomboy. The treasurer has hair almost as long as mine. Ect. ect. :)

As we expected, it was basically a lot of people getting their names called and getting a plaque or certificate or complimentary picture frame (seriously... they gave out picture frames to people. :shrug:) and it took ALL night. So after the president got her little picture frame and certificate for whatever reason they thought of giving one to ALL the club presidents, one by one we slipped out and headed down to the hotel bar to hang out.

When I was there, I decided to go to one extreme and order the manliest drink I could think of. So I got straight-up 15 year old single-malt scotch. Glenfiddich or something like that, I don't know how to spell it. The treasurer, who has similar taste in such things, had a 12 year old Glenlivet. So we played scotch snobs and compared the taste and aftertaste and all those things that we enjoyed but didn't actually care that much about. :P

Anyhow, we hung out and bullshitted and shielded the president from the one creepy weird guy in the gamer club who couldn't take a hint. Well, most of the gamers are a little creepy and weird and can't take hints... but this one was especially bad. :P It was rather amusing, she ended up spending most of the night arm in arm with one of her gay friends who I hadn't met before and he was basically playing her boyfriend for the night. Then we decided that the night was still young.

So we went to a goth club. :P A couple of non-creepy gamers, several sci-fi geeks and one very gay man, all wearing fancy dress clothes hanging out at a goth club. We actually fit in fairly well.

This time I decided to go to the opposite extreme. I walked up to the bar, asked the bartender what the girliest, fruitiest drink he had was. And I had two of those. I never caught the name, music was too loud. But it was pretty damn girly and fruit. :) Anyhow, after being mesmerized by one particularly curvacious girl in a short plaid schoolgirl skirt, they managed to tear me away and go on to the next place we were scheduled to hit.

Which would be the gay bar down the street. Unfortunately it was 'ladies night' there, so it was mostly straight couples who just went because their girlfriends got in for free. :\ And it was fairly dead for a friday night. Maybe now that at least one of the colleges in the area is done for the semester some of the kids went home, who knows. Anyhow, I explained my previous drink choices to one of the bartenders there and told her to 'surprise me' with something. So she made something that was basically whiskey with lemonade in it. Pretty good.

By this time I was getting a little tipsy, and since that place was dead we decided to hit one more before going to the nearest person's house. So we went to another gay bar. :P This one was a regular bar, not a club. No cover charge. We just went in and hung out for a little bit before crashing at the president's house.

Of course, I still had to get home somehow and I didn't want to sleep over there... so I ended up staying up until 6 in the morning when the drinks had worn off. Got home, crashed, and slept until about noon.

I should do that more often. :P But next time... gay bar first, THEN goth club. I generally can't dance, but for some reason after being in a gay club it was easier. I think it's just a mental block for me. Once I can loosen up I'm fine.
