I'm losing patience with my brother in law

I've already had to create a gmail filter to eliminate every instance of his address+Obama, ever since he learned I was a supporter. He throws the N word around every time I see him. He's done so long before he ever heard of Barack. He's an all around racist. His daughter grew up to have better sense. She's gay, and non racist, and just as irritated as I am about his attitudes.

This weekend we were talking about segregation with people at a family gathering. I remember the last vestiges of segregation. I knew places with two men's rooms and two ladie's rooms, but didn't know why there were two until I was older (born/raised in Louisiana. Memories from the mid 1960s).

As we discussed these memories, he blurted out "If only we could go back to those days." I retorted with "I was just about to say, thank goodness those days are behind us." We both let it drop, but he's the kind of guy who makes a point of making racist statements at every opportunity, and it will continue.

Nothing you guys can do about it, but I had to vent.

My BILs family is pretty conservative but nowhere near that! I'm sorry you have to put up with people like that. :( What you say reminds me of a piece on the Daily Show this past week about the WV primary where they showed a clip of a woman saying Obama was "of the other race and we've had problems with those people." :wow: So there's only white or not white and demanding civil rights is causing problems. Nice. :puke:

Most Americans have some black blood (god I hate that crap) in their background. Why would he be any different? Maybe if he found out he was a fourth cousin to Malcolm X he'd ... oh who knows what.
