How come nobody thinks they'll ever get old?

It happened to grandma and grandpa...it happened to Mom and Dad...but it'll never happen to me.

When I was 18-20, it seemed ridiculous to think of me being 65 and retiring.

Now I'm getting close to 60.

Anybody else?

1. Honestly?
I thought I would die before I ever reached my age. Really. If I'd known I would live this long, I might have taken better care of myself! lol

4. Why don't we ask the guys WHO said "hope I die before I get old"
They're saying it.... even though they ARE old.

And Keith Moon was the only one who really lived out the prophecy (or didn't live, in this case)

6. I guess I'm older than you, but still not getting old
Sometimes I can't remember stuff.

And my joints are not as flexible as they once were.

My belts are longer than before.

The grey stuff that falls on the tarp at the barber shop? Where'd that come from?

But I ain't getting old.

7. Because we're all busy surviving.
Life more or less gets away from us, I think. We're so busy commuting, going to work, falling in and out of love, or not, etc., that it's easy to forget how fragile our lives are.

10. I am 62
But I don't feel that old.

Still, with age comes the realization that the probability of going to bed at night and not waking up the next morning is higher than it used to be.

11. I'm 33, but I look like I'm about freaking 18
Although, now, I am getting a few gray hairs, and even a touch of gray stubble. Maybe I won't get carded when I buy a Pg-13 movie anymore.

I am stuck in a conundrum. Most of my friends are younger etc, but I almost want to be an old guy who yells at kids and shit like that. So I want to be younger, yet I want to be older. I know I just don't want to be my own age.

When I'm older, I'll be like a combo of McCain and Grampa Simpson. It'll be great.

12. My dear raccoon!
The saying is: Every man would live long, but no man would be old...

I don't feel old either, and I'll be on Medicare by the end of the year!

13. I'm getting old
Apart from the aches and pains I think it's cool. I love the white hair that's coming in. I'm 42 and look forward to getting even older.(And the sex is better. Woo hoo!)

Khash.

14. I saw myself in the mirror this morning,
and wondered who in the hell that was looking back at me. When did I begin to get old? Why is it when I look in the mirror, I don't always see that same older person that I saw in the mirror this morning looking back at me?

In a way, I think our minds protect us by thinking we'll remain young.
