3. I voted for the townhome |
|
'cuz I don't like solitude and would rather have less than more space. However, I have small kids... so maybe I'd take something a bit more kid-friendly.

I often dream of my husband and I retiring to a cabin in the woods. I like the beach, but erosion sucks.

which I have now, but with more (five) acreage and a detached three car garage with running water and electricity (for the garage, lest you all think that is optional in MS). Paved road to the house, and a six fire rating. And of course, less than an hour to the French Quarter - Les a le bon temp rouler!!!!

Nothing beats being 50 stories up in the sky watching people below! It's sweet :D I'm actually most at home in small spaces; while I like big houses, I need small rooms- especially where I sleep. Is that weird?

Of course, they must be in good condition, which would be expected if the home costs 1 million dollars.

I like the mountains best, but maybe with a beach nearby? Those are my two favorite places and to have a house near both would be lovely!

or Topanga Canyon since you are in CA. The homes are hidden in the mountain side and the beach is a 10 minute drive away.

I've always thought earth homes were the coolest thing - think hobbit-hole from LOTR.
I would choose one in a suburban setting, about 1,000 - 1,100 sq ft. on an acre or two of land.
Earth homes don't need much, if any exterior maintenance, they use earth for insulation, so have low heating/cooling needs. My 'family' is two cats, so we don't need a lot of space, and less space is easier to keep clean. I would want a gazebo on the property for entertaining, maybe screen it in to keep out the bugs, but let in the breezes.

With some kind of seedy past, prostitutes or bootleggers or something like that. Set in New England somewhere because I never have lived anywhere for very long that had a really pretty fall.
