I'm having my teeth bleached/whitened

I went to the dentist today and I decided to go for it. I had my imperssions taken today, and I'm going back to get the trays on Monday. I'll wear them for 5-8 days and we'll see. I'd love to hear from anyone who has had their teeth bleached. Did you get good results? I'm paying $400, and I think that's reasonable because my dentist is amazingly good. What do you think?

1. I think it works

I had it done a few years ago and was very pleased with the results. A friend of mine also did it, and hers got REALLY white (of course, she had a year-round tan, so the whiteness was emphasized). You may decide to get touchups every few years - keep the trays so you'll only have to get the gel.

Your teeth may get sensitive the more you use the gel. Mine are very sensitive to cold, and this was somewhat exacerbated while I did the bleaching. It was never bad enough to make me stop, though.

3. $400 is twice the going rate in my area but it's worth it

I had wonderful results. It doesn't matter about your dentist. I never even saw the dentist. A dental hygenist did everything. It's all in the chemical. It should be carbamide peroxide. (not sure I spelled that right) Wonderful results and I had tetracycline stained teeth! Keep your trays, because in future years if you drink a lot of coffee or smoke and want to do an update, you can get the refills on eBay and not have to see the dentist or hygenist a second time. The "refreshers" only take a night or two to work.
