I envision the day "full screen" pan 'n' scan is made illegal.
It's a day I live for.

It would be made even better if they were to find the asswipe who invented it so we could kick his ass- or is that just MY dream?

Pan and scan is one method of adjusting widescreen film images so that they can be shown within the proportions of a standard definition 4:3 aspect ratio television screen, often cropping off the sides of the original widescreen image to focus on the composition's most important aspects. Some film directors and film enthusiasts disagree with pan and scan cropping, because it can remove up to 45% (on 2.35:1 films) of the original image...

1. I hate when the screen moves side to side to get dialogue between peeps
it should be all letterbox, all the time

2. My dear Prisoner_Number_Six!
Oh, yeah, am I ever with you on this one!

Talk about editing the movie, and not in the way the director wanted!

5. It makes a difference.
There are films I've originally seen on VHS in pan 'n scam (because we're cheated of the director's vision). Then later on DVD in letterbox. My appreciation of the films on second viewing rose several notches.

6. Oh, there's sand people all right. I can see one of 'em now.
Only if you're watching the non-widescreen version, you can't see one of 'em right then.
