DU'er Debi posted about her home in northern Iowa being hit :hug:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x7766878

And in Hugo, a suburb of St. Paul, MN, one killed and 20 missing.

:hug: :grouphug: :hug: to all our DU friends in these areas.

on edit:
Included KS because the NWS had put out a warning for that state as well.

MN story:
Official: Storm kills 1 in Minnesota; 20 missing

By JOSHUA FREED – 14 minutes ago

HUGO, Minn. (AP) — Severe thunderstorms packing large hail and possible tornadoes rumbled across the nation's midsection on Sunday, killing at least one person and damaging dozens of homes.

At least 20 people were missing after a swift storm blew through the St. Paul suburb of Hugo, damaging about four dozen homes, City Administrator Mike Ericson said.

<snip>
Hugo Public Works Director Chris Petree said his family took shelter in the basement before the storm lifted his house off the ground and completely wiped out the second floor.

"I put my daughter down first, my wife on top of her and then I bear-hugged on top of them," Petree said.

As he huddled in his basement against a foundation wall with his wife and 2 1/2-year-old daughter, Petree said they heard the thunderous sound of their house coming off the ground.

6. The cells/tornado that got Hugo went through our area before that, but thankfully
no damage. A little scary, though. We made 2 trips to the basement today.

11. A tornado watch here (Illinois) until 3 am.
Just watched the Parkersburg, IA video on WHO-TV website. The town is just demolished, 7 killed. So sad. Here's the site:
