I rarely get to a movie the first weekend. But I do want to catch SATC.

HBO reached an agreement with Itunes to upload their library there. I plan to get all 6 seasons of SATC for my Ipod.
I just love that show! What's great is the women on that show were the same age as me and according to what I've read about the movie, they've aged the same rate as I have.

8. Yeah, and I think it's FANTASTIC that 40+ women (and in one case 50+) are shown living it up |

I can't wait! Going by myself, hubby is watching the kids. My dad's girlfriend is supposed to have a little part in the film, but doesn't know if she was cut or not. If you see a woman with a little doggie standing on the sidewalk that has about one line that is her. :) She says something like "You girls are all so gorgeous!"

7. I can't help it - I'm excited. |
|
Mainly because I want to see
a) Mr Big disappoint Carrie again, and her (maybe? can we hope?) learn a lesson b) Samantha being a rare female character who is truly independent c) Miranda delivering more cynical lines about a variety of topics
I could care less about the clothes. Actually, I kind of hate that part.

I'm going to see it to finally see Big and Carrie together forever. If that's not what happens, don't spoil it for me :-(
On the other hand, anyone who would let Aidan go deserves a little heartache.

That's all.
He's an asshole who has repeatedly let her down. She's a 40+ grown woman with stars in her eyes and a real shopping addiction that needs to be financed. I like her personality, but I think Carrie should finally grow up and stop looking for Mr. Right.
Edited to add: with Big's track record, unless there is a series of movies up until he dies at age 80, I wouldn't feel "closure" on that relationship, even if they did ride off into the sunset together. I just don't trust him. In real life, we'd all think Carrie was a bit of a delusional loser for holding on to someone who doesn't treat her with respect.

if they don't end up together, it will mean I've spent a lifetime pining after guys for nothing ;-)
Maybe Big has really changed and doesn't need to be Hubble anymore. ("Hubble, your girl is lovely.")

I was with my Mr Big for 3 years...3 of the most painful years of my life. Eventually I developed enough self-esteem to walk away, and I am married to my Aiden and blissfully happy. Yes sometimes my Big crosses my mind - but in a "God, I'm glad I didn't end up with HIM" way. :D

9. Update: See it to annoy the jerks. |
|
I was just checking my e-mail on MSN and saw a story about SATC and the question whether women could carry it at the box office. I clicked on the replies to the article and found the usual fan stuff (e.g., plans to see the movie with spouse, friends, et al), interspersed with a lot of really misogynistic and ageist claptrap. It's especially rich when anonymous posters go on about how old and unattractive the actresses are. :eye: Well, poster, you're entitled to your opinion, but let me just guess: You're not on the cover of many magazines, are you?

...on the looks thing, the odds are pretty good that those snotty, disdainful posters are not exactly done up for the red carpet while they're dissing the actors, who are of course exercised, made up, coiffed, and clothed just for their New York moment.
...and for the demographics, the SATC movie already has a fan base. Besides, someone would have to have a pretty bad head for business to dismiss the prospect of attracting the hard-earned dollars of working women, teen girls, gay men, and anyone else who would like to queue up for Sex and the City. The way entertainment writers would have it, the entire American audience consists of a 17-year-old male who likes gross-out jokes and, like, big explosions, dude.

And I find it wholly annoying because there are so many movies out there that are geared toward men - action/adventure movies with nary a woman in sight (except for the obligatory bimbo who needs rescuing), etc., and nobody ever asks if "men can carry it at the box office." :eyes:

The ultimate charismatic, eternally unavailable, sexy-as-hell type who haunts your dreams..
My type--and I too am glad as hell I didn't marry one.
Plus- Chris Noth is a progressive- heard him speak at an anti-Iraq war rally in Central Park.

Once someone proves they have no interest in me, or interest but no respect, I am no longer attracted to them. Has always been thus.
I tend to write off unavailable guys immediately, too.
Seriously, I think I am missing a gene somewhere...

But only when something I really want to see we will go to the movies.
The last one was "Dreamgirls". I HAD to see that in the theater. It was like going to a play. People cheered and clapped like crazy for Jennifer Hudson.
