Since moving into their new house a month ago, the following has happened to my parents:
1. A large tree on their property fell onto the neighbor's lawn, and they had to pay to remove it.

2. My mom chipped her front tooth and needed to get it capped.

3. Their air conditioner conked out and needed to be totally replaced.

4. Their cat mysteriously got a large gash wound on his stomach and needed to be rushed to the vet. Fortunately, he should recover but in the meantime he has to wear one of those ridiculous cones on his head.

I mean, I love having my parents live in state and only a few hours away from me, but I'm wondering if their new house wasn't built on an Indian burial ground or something like that....

3. Re: #1 and #3...
1. Believe it or not, the neighbor's homeowner's policy should have covered that. Sounds odd, but 'tis true. Happened to my in-laws.

Have them contact their insurance agent about filing a claim. Dunno if anything can be done after the fact, but it's worth a call.

3. Do they have a home warranty? If so, it should have covered that.
