2. yup
and doing some more prep this weekend and next week. i have the official SAT prep book and i've been going back over algebra for the test.. i took the ACT and did ok(i was upset with my score though) and got a 27. the math section is what brought me down. I did great on the trig and geometry questions, and horrible on the basic algebra ones(i had forgotten algebra!) but that was a few months ago and i've been going back over everything and preparing for it.

i'm still nervous though.

8. I've worked in higher ed for 16 years. On this issue...
unfortunately it is still very much a game. My advice is to plan on taking the test you need (either ACT or SAT) at least 4 times. Just plan on it every 3 months. Sad to say, but the numbers will get you very very far. The payoff is worth it.

10. i'm hoping to do better but i'm not too worried about it
i took the act for the first time a few months ago, and that score was high enough to get me into at least two of the universities i'm planning on applying to. i'm hoping to do better on the SAT and if not i'll retake the ACT and try to do better. i've made straight a's throughout my schooling, so hopefully if all goes well i'll get into most of the places i'm applying to.

thanks for the advice :hi:

17. I only took the SAT once - back in 1980. Big mistake. I'm sure I could have done better.
I got a 1100 or some where around that. But right before it was time to finish, I realized I had skipped two pages and had to rush through and do them again. It just didn't make sense to not take it again.

3. I took the SAT back in 1964
The only reason I took it was to verify that my score on the NMSQT wasn't a fluke.

I know it's all different now, but my advice would be not to worry. If you don't know stuff by now, that stuff probably doesn't matter.

i got a 27 on mine, but then again i pretty much bombed the math section, lol. i had a big problem - i had pretty much forgotten the basics of algebra.

12. Good luck
When I was in school nobody told me how important test scores were. I walked in and took all the tests cold without any prep work - and having only barely scanned the registration packet in advance. I did well enough to get into the schools I wanted to attend. Did that for the ACT, the SAT, the LSAT, the GRE and the GMAT.

You'll do fine. Relax.

13. Ah..the SAT...
Edited on Sat May-31-08 09:45 PM by Scooter24
If you are prepared, you should do fine. I must have taken 15 or so practice tests before taking the exam and my best score out of all of them was around 1380. I scored a 1502 on the exam. :)

At least they got rid of the analogies but instead you have a writing componenet. :scared:

Just remember- good nights rest, a good breakfast, and maybe some mild exercise that morning to get the blood flowing to the brain :)

16. The level of stress should hinge on what college you want to go to.
If you're gunning for Harvard or Yale, you may have a reason to freak.

I knew that a state sponsored school was in my future due to my family's financial situation.

I can tell you, you've got a huge advantage already, in that you can express yourself clearly using the written word.

If you want reassurance about where you stand with your peers, just look at most of the posts on teh internets.

Now go forth and kick ass.
