The Pasta Diet - something that just arrived in my email. |
|
ITALIAN PASTA DIET -- IT REALLY WORKS !!
1.. You walka pasta da bakery.
2.. You walka pasta da candy store.
3.. You walka pasta da Ice Cream shop.
4... You walka pasta da table and fridge.
You will lose weight!
And...
For those of you who watch what you eat, here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting nutritional studies.
1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
3. The Chinese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
4. The Italians drink a lot of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
5. The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than Americans.
CONCLUSION
Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.

it seems it is our lifestyle, lack of relaxation, and the wrong sorts of relaxation when we get it that kills Americans faster. The Japanese live longer but that's because a diet based in fish and rice can't kill you. Compare the Japanese to the Icelandic since they have very similar diets and you see that the Japanese are not doing so hot either. I've always wondered what the life-expectancy was for PT-employed educated vegan outdoors-type people. I figure they'd live nearly forever.
Work less, enjoy more, worry and stress less, don't sit on your ass in front of the computer or the TV all the time. It works wonders.

3. Americans on average spend 8.5 hours in front of the TV every day |
|
which is more than the average in every other country. I don't think that lack of relaxation is the problem, but lack of exercise (which could include recreation-you know, the type that people did before Playstations were invented).
As for nutrition, the author of "the omnivore's dilemma" put it best "eat real food. Not too much. Mostly plants". Americans consume huge amounts of red meat and processed foods (much of it containing high fructose corn syrup-banned in the EU), which no doubt leads to the higher heart disease rate because obese people usually are at greater risk.
