The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poetry Break, 6/2/08 |

"The Inland Lighthouse"
Into the night, out from him, out into the air he throws his frames and fixes them, holds them out there.
These are his shores. The waters never rush at him, never follow the beams back along the watch to his lean shiver.
Around him, as he turns, he hears a dull tick of grains. He stares into the day. Sand fills the sky with its falling
and he turns and turns. "Nowhere. Nowhere." It is his oath. He is the light, the keeper. He is not to leave.
