You know you're totally screwed when watching television |
|
and the meteorologist breaks in and announces a tornado looks like it's heading for your street. Seriously, he said my street by name.
:scared:
But, we're fine. As luck would have it, BoyMidlo's tutor, who is the ex-meterologist for NBC12 News was here.
Pretty scary shit, though.

1. A meteorologist is a shield against tornados? |
|
I gotta get me some of them.
I'm glad it passed you by. Those things are scary.

2. LOL. Well, he told us what to expect if indeed it was headed towards us. |
|
My backyard has really tall trees and the direction it was coming from, well, we wouldn't have seen it until it was upon us.
The dachshund is a great predictor of bad weather. Starts shaking big time when the pressure drops.

5. Yup. My kids were hunkered down in the hall bathroom with the dogs. |
|
It was pretty scary.
And, on NBC12 this morning, they were naming my subdivision as the worst hit. :wow:

7. Yeah, apparently that's true. |
|
My biggest issue is that my backyard has really tall trees and I can't see past them to the direction the tornados usually come from.
I was so glad Ben was here last night because he and my husband went outside and he was stating what 'would' happen if one was headed towards us.
Of course, my little one was crying in the bathroom holding the dog. Ugh.

8. We're also surrounded by really tall trees, and are down in a hollow near |
|
a lake. We'd probably see the tornado before we heard it.

12. My wife and I watched Channel 12 |
|
Jim Duncan looked like he was about to KILL the morning guy (Andrew something)
It was hilarious to watch. They kept interrupting each other and THEN they cut to a cub reporter who had found a tree limb down in a street in a prominent southside development

14. I live in tornado alley. My neighborhood is always on the radar. |
|
So is, unfortunately, my street. We've been lucky so far. No tornado has touched my house! Glad y'all are ok!

I've been at ground zero during a tornado. Twice. Of course, those were baby tornadoes by mid-west standards, but still pretty damned scary. Did you have any property damage? I lost part of a roof the first time and the top of my convertible the second...and needed brand new underwear both times.
Hiding in the bathtub is usually a good option, but it might have gotten a tad crowded with three of you in there.
