How weird is your IPod/MP3 play list?
Recently, my brother, who works for Motorolla, gave me an older vintage MP3 player which, I suspect, his company was trying to get rid off. Being both a bit of a Luddite and laughably cheap, this was my first experience with one of these things, and I've gradually been loading it up with some stuff.

This is a sampling of what I've got...how does yours look?

AfroCelt Sound System
Big Country
Barack Obama
Nicholas Payton
Cheap Trick
Youssou N'dour
Lyle Lovett
Guadalcanal Diary
Midnight Oil
Neighborhoods
Harry Truman
Pogues
Sinead O'Connor
Dropkick Murphys
Boston Pops
Cherish The Ladies
Barbara Jordan
Steve Earle (a LOT of Steve Earle)
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Elvis Presley
Johnny Cash
The Clash
BR-549
Dwight Yoakum
Neko Case
Waco Brothers
Old 97s
Giant Sand
U2 (a lot of them, too)
Bruce Watson
Waterboys
Snow Patrol
Social Distortion
Green Day
A bunch of obscure Afropop artists
REM
Flogging Molly
Mark Knoepfler

(Yes, you saw Harry Truman, Barack Obama, and Barbara Jordan on there. A few years ago, the Dreaded and Evil DLC put out a cd that had excerpts of speeches from some of the most kick-ass Democrats out there)

I do too! He writes the songs, man :headbang:

I have too many artists but that's a good way to do it, what's next to each other-

In the A's I have AC/DC next to Academy Of St. Martin-In-The-Fields.
In the V's I have Violent Femmes with Vivaldi.

And some rap and a lot of country music.

8. Had I a bigger mp3 player, I'd probably have just as big and weird a collection.
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 10:12 AM by DarkTirade
:)

I was actually thinking about getting one that has an SD slot, that way I could keep genres on SD cards and so if I'm in an orchestral mood, pop in once card. If I'm in a rock mood, another, ect.

... just no Barry Manilow.

Or rap. Or country.

Well, maybe some Dixie Chicks. And some Johnny Cash.

4. Pretty weird.
I'll just copy and paste from the last time this question was asked. :P

It's only a 1 gig, so I can't fit too much on there, but it's enough that I can listen to it around campus and when I'm skating and whatnot. It's mostly soundtracks, actually.

Pretty damn esoteric stuff. :P

The soundtrack to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vzN_ARBIso">Alegria, a movie made by Cirque du Soleil
Music from the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbtURG1DF5Q">Cowboy Bebop.
Music from numerous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZEwVoXTTfY">Final Fantasy games
The soundtracks to the show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXvMhKnGZxw">Firefly and the spinoff movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=912bBoeTW_4">Serenity. (I love skating to the Serenity soundtrack, because they've got these themes for when they're flying through space that just feel so appropriate for when you're gliding on ice. Seriously, click on the Serenity link there and just close your eyes and listen to the first little bit of it...)
Some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdZn7k5rZLQ">Nightwish and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixxtnrWb17Y">Lacuna Coil.
The soundtrack to the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRswy183Gps">musical episode of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMYyvoezUoM">Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The soundtrack to the queer punk rock musical http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-YO9FpWX57E">Hedwig and the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mnrwmmhkCI">Angry Inch
(Okay, I'm still listening to the song I linked to from the Firefly soundtrack... goddamn that man outdid himself with that piece. He actually called up Joss Whedon and said, "I'm worried this one might be a little TOO emotional." :P)
The http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SvAf-QbuvQ">Sibelius violin concerto. I've never played the solo, just in the orchestra. But goddamn it's beautiful.
Some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muJaDZA-_Bk">t.A.T.u.
Some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2gzibUvDzw">Rammstein
Some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUXuhmEsUIU">remixes of t.A.T.u. and Rammstein. Weird, but it ends up with a rather cool combination of girl band + low growly heavy metal. :)
The made-up band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evL2sPk8eeY">Steel Dragon from the movie Rock Star with Mark Wahlburg.
The http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHO5KWIMZUo">Moulin Rouge soundtrack. (Yeah, I know... crapload o' soundtracks.)
Some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMrZ7lChK-g">Rufus Wainwright
Some of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tz6qHBGKQyk">My own stuff (does that make me a narcissist? :P)
And a bunch of random other stuff that isn't categorized.

And for the less esoteric stuff
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPQR-OsH0RQ">Nirvana.
The soundtrack to the Beatles movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNMhPQoEbJE">Help!. :)
And some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ADh8Fs3YdU">Queen (and yes, I chose a song that was covered on Moulin Rouge for this link just to be ironic. :P)
