Pet Lovers - do any of you do this? *sigh* I think I'm hopeless. ;(
I just took a shower, and when I went to lay out my clean clothes ahead of time, the dog was sleeping on the bed. I groped around in the dark to set out my clothes rather than turn on the light and disturb him. He was still there after my shower, so I dressed in the dark.

Also, when I go to bed, if there are one or more pets on my bed, I practically crawl into the headboard so I can slip in between them without disturbing them.

This is MY bedroom and MY bed! How, and when, did they take over??

1. Oh yes
I have to move around the kitties - when they lie on the bed I end up contorting myself into a pretzel to not disturb them!

4. And another thing!
My dog almost always gets to ride with me when I do errands. When it's really hot or going to take a while, I don't let him come along, out of concern for his own protection.

He takes revenge, and trashes all the waste baskets in the house. :eyes:

5. LOL! I hear ya!
I have one cat like that too. Constantly underfoot, and hisses up a storm if I boot him in the butt. I call him "snarly butt."

3. Do it all the time
If the cat is lying against me on the couch and trapping my arm I will sometimes sit there uncomfortably for a while before I disturb him and make him move. He must think he runs the place and apparently he does.

8. Bite toes?? That's where I draw the line!
I'm so anal retentive anyway that I cannot stand to be without socks, even in bed.

My same "snarly butt" kitty would bite my toes. But I'll smack him!

DON'T MESS WITH MY TOES OR FEET!!

9. Hehehe, nope.
If my dogs are in the bed when I'm ready to climb in, down they go. They're welcome to come back after I get comfortable, but it's my bed, dammit!

And the thing with the lights... my dogs don't fail to wake me up when they feel like it, so they get the same in return.

:D

10. Pippi is a little turd
Pip will gradually move across the bed towards you... and she WON'T move over... if you shove her she just lays there like 60 lbs of potatoes... so that by the time you wake up in the morning you've got about a foot and a half on the edge of the bed. x(

14. It's a she,
and she's about 60-65.

It's a good thing she's the bed hog and not Bailey. 105 lbs of Springer is a LOT. x(

But Bailey will move over... Pip is dug in like it's World War I. x(

18. Ahh. So no wonder she feels like a 60 pound sack of potatoes.
I prefer the 20 pounds or less lap dogs myself. But I also know the bigger they are, the bigger babies and more lovable they are, especially with a lovin' belly scratch. :D

15. My dog used to have one couch cushion that was his.
And somehow it gradually got to be the whole couch. So if I come up from the basement with unfolded laundry and put a pile of it on the couch- he may just decide to knock it off onto the floor. He's almost 16- so I may protest but I'm glad he's still spunky enough to do something like that.

20. OMG! Making the bed is another issue here! *groan*
My "snarly butt" is never there when I start to change the sheets. But he is ALWAYS there before it's accomplished.

He ALWAYS appears just in time to "help" with the corners, and crawls underneath the sheet so I can't tuck things in or finish with the blankets. I have to toss him out about a dozen times before I can complete the task.

21. I used to have that problem doing homework. Some of my classes were online.
This was not my "snarly butt", but the other "Princess", who thinks she owns the place.

She would plop on top of my books and papers every time I tried to do homework.

I have since taken in my mother. The "Princess" has now adopted my mother, and has her undivided attention. (However, she still thinks she owns the place)

When the kid decides he wants to sleep there too, I give up and head to the couch. :eyes:

25. "When the kid wants to sleep in my bed." Interesting point.
When my son first decided to come to bed with his mom, I too, headed for the couch or his bed. Good gawd, he was an animal in bed. He'd smack my face in his sleep, lay crosswise in his sleep, and practically beat the crap outta me!

Then I realized he only did that when he was sick. So I paid better attention. Took his temp, pampered him all night, powdered, puffed, pooped, and potty-ed him all night, and made a Dr.'r appointment in the morning if necessary.

At a later point, I felt he was getting at the age that it was not appropriate to sleep with mom anymore. So that was a bit of a power struggle to get though.

24. you need cesar
seriously, i know you say it in good fun. but i have found the things he says to be very true. i have adopted many of his ideas, and my dogs have a lot more respect for me, and are a lot better pets. i think that he is right that dogs want a leader they can trust, and you have to speak their language a little to get that trust. it is little things, like being in charge of doors, and making them follow you through, or wait until you tell them they can go.
unfortunately, who owns the bed is kinda big.
