Everyone wants my Oxycodones |
|
I shattered my ankle last week and I now have a metal plate with 30 screws in it. I've been prescribed Oxycodone and one of my friends keeps asking me for some because her boyfriend hurt his back. I suggested Aleve and a glass of wine but ended up giving her some pills because they are helping me move. I'm really irritated about the fact they would even ask me for some. They offered to pay but I'm not into dealing. I'm in bad pain without these pills. 17 on a pain scale of 10 is what I have without my medication. Am I being unreasonable? She's not the only one that asked. Why do grown people in their 50's want to use pain pills to get off on? They make me sick as a dog unless I eat and take anti-nausea meds. x( x(  :grr: :grr:

1. Tell them no, its illegal |
|
A real friend would NOT ask you for pain meds YOU need. Something is fishy.

2. I have had the same problem with vicodin |
|
which I use when I have to for migraines. Amazing how people suddenly invent a pain and a reason they can't get their own medication when they find out you have a strong painkiller. I would never sell or give away medication my doctor prescribed for me, and I think it is highly inappropriate for people to ask.

4. Tell Them You're Under Doctors' Orders For Pain Management |
|

And you have to be careful to ration for yourself. You aren't being at all unreasonable.
If your friends need them that badly, they can get their own prescription.
I self-medicated a LOT as a teenager and am so glad it's all out of my system. I was given a hydrocodone prescription after a surgery a couple of years ago. After 24 hours, I wanted nothing to do with them and decided I'd rather put up with a *little* pain than feel like a visitor in my own body.
Didn't touch the rest of the bottle, what had about a couple dozen.
Some months later, workmen in my home (apartment complex) nicked them on a repair job. I never knew they'd gone missing until 6 months later when I was cleaning the cabinet. They left the empty pill bottle.
That shit makes people do fucked up things.

7. It makes me sleep like a baby which is good |

All I can do is use my computer and watch television and read. So I take them to force myself to stay on the couch with my foot up. I would die of boredom and pain without them.

8. That stuff is horrible. |
|
I got prescribed some last year after oral surgery, and I was too fucking loopy to stand up and walk six feet from my bed to my bathroom unassisted.
To say that it was highly unpleasant is absolutely understating the case- I quit taking them because the ache of my jaw wasn't half so bad as the dizziness. Anybody who takes that stuff for fun needs a new hobby.

9. It doesn't make me dizzy but I am loopy |
|
I'll just be sitting here at my desk and go catatonic for a few minutes. Helps the pain, however. I have never experienced such pain in my life but I haven't given birth either which might be worse. I know why animals and humans pant so much when they hurt now.
On a side note, my kitteh is very concerned about me. He rides in my lap when I'm in my wheelchair and he's become very clingy. It could be because I was not at home for 3 days and the pet sitter came in.
Okay, the meeeeddddssss areeee kickinnng innnnnn nowwwww!

10. They are addicted to pain killers.... |
|
I, for one, can't take them. They make me feel like I am laying in a bed of ants, and Aleve actually makes me feel better than Oxycodone.
If someone asks, just tell them, "If I give them to you, then I will be without them when I need them, and will be in untolerable pain. You wouldn't want that, would you"?
Who could argue with that?

11. I pretty much said that but I'm at the mercy of friends right now |
|
I can't walk for 4 more weeks and I'm moving in 10 days. They are helping me pack everything up. I just don't understand why people would want to take something that makes them so effed up. It makes me feel weird but then my ankle quits hurting and I sleep the sleep of innocent babes.

You can't squeeze your right hand and you have a big bump on your head? I'd go to the ER if I were you. (Or have you already seen a doctor?)

16. Tell 'em to go take their own trip (so to speak) |
|
No need for you to give your prescription meds to someone else- not only is it illegal; as you say, you need 'em yourself.
My advice- lock 'em away- now that they know you have 'em, if they want to get to 'em bad enough they'll go looking as soon as you leave the room.

|
especially if you have friends who are drug seeking...
it's illegal
you may need the med and not have it
Why the fuck should they get your meds? they can go to the doc themselves
