This f**king program has me wanting to throw my new laptop out the windowm but I can to my senses because I need the damned thing.
I HATE VISTA. It refuses to let me in to some of my directories, like Application Data, Cookies, Documents and Settings--etc. It keeps saying Access Denied, even though I'm the only one using the machine, and I'm administrator.
Now, I've been working with computers for a long time, and though my brain has recently begun to fry, I still know quite a bit. And total and complete submission of my machine to ME is one of the things I must have. So....how the fuck do I get access to some of the areas on my OWN computer? I'm prepared, more or less, to wipe the whole hard drive completely and re-format it as XP, but I would rather not. I've done away with the appearance, though, and "customized" it to look more like my XP desktop, and I've installed some of the programs which keep me sane and which I use on the desktop as well. (Powerdesk, Nero, PowerDVD, etc) But this freaking "ME" crap makes me want to puke--why couldn't they just leave the interface alone? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!
Anyhow, juat needed to vent. There are some things I really like about the computer itself, including the keyboard--a lot smoother than the old ones, and a 15.4" monitor really is a work of art. But if I don't get rid of some of the "dumbing down" shit that's on this thing, its days are numbered. (Including all that bundled crap--I've spent a couple of days already deleting and un-installing some of it as I've put my own stuff on, but it's one of the reasons I need access to those damned directories, so I can track down and kill more of that kind of stuff.
