how often do you say 'i love you'? |
|
in my family, we always, always, always say it any time we're saying goodbye, be it over the phone or in person, even if it's a cousin we talk to once or twice a year. we're also very demonstrative and there are always hugs and kisses when we're heading our own ways.
i've adopted the same philosophy with my friends (while respecting their boundaries) because i think it is one of the most important things you can say to someone.
what about you, loungers?

1. i say it mostly to Sniffa, since that's who I interact with |
|
24-7 (we haven't been apart overnight in over 2 yrs). We say it pretty much constantly, in every conversation. Some may think it's over the top, but it's sincere. :)

Etc...

I couldn't count it. It's just me and my three children (all boys) and it is a staple of most conversations in our home. We say it in the morning, evenings, bedtime, and sometimes just to say it for no reason at all. I grew up in a home where the words "I love you" were never uttered (not an attack on my family) and I want my boys to feel comfortable expressing their feelings, especially love of one another. I do everything in my power so they know and feel loved.
I think people should express these things more often.

I say it to pretty much everyone I love when we part or hang up the phone and even in my e-mails. I say it to my husband about 10 times a day.
I was not raised this way. I think I picked it up during my years in New Orleans where people tend to be very affectionate.

But, like you, I made a point of doing it all the time and my kids are all openly affectionate. Hell, my youngest is 20 and he would love for me to read to him! Ahh, I miss him a lot tonight.
I hug my parents now and tell them I love them. They are awkward but I think they really appreciate it.

|
With the man, though, that goes without saying. I'm usually in the shower when he's motoring out, so we air kiss through the glass door, I wish him safe driving, and the last thing we exchange is mouthed "I love you", as I'm either rinsing the shampoo out of my hair or washing the face soap off my face before it gets into my eyes.
And with the ones that I exchange emails with, they know how I show my love.

Almost every time we pass each other in the hall, or catch each others' eyes from across the room. First thing every morning, several times, and several times again before bed. Just...constantly.
I love easily, too. I have no problem saying it (and meaning it) very early in relationships. I told ThinkBlue1966 that I loved her about 12 hours after meeting her, and we're working on anniversary number nine. :)

I say it when my husband goes off to the office, when we say "goodbye" when we're talking on the phone, before we go to sleep at night. We say it to our family and to most of our friends when we say goodbye to them after a visit or a phone conversation as well.
How could anyone ever say "I love you" too much?

My wife and I say it early and often. Except for one emergency trip to see a dying grandma, we haven't been apart a day since our 6th date, years ago. I love her. I say it. It often leads into and out of each conversation. Probably sounds retarded to anyone who happens to be listening to us, but I don't really care.
