Saw Pearl Jam last night and heard one of the best antiwar songs of the Iraq War era:
Song's called "No More," here's a version from a show last year:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=0vW0e99GFYk

For you PJ fans, this was the opening show of the summer tour, and the band is hot:
DATE CITY STATE/COUNTRY VENUE
2008-06-11 West Palm Beach Florida Cruzan Amphitheatre
Set 1 Oceans, Severed Hand, Save You, Gods' Dice, Given To Fly, Faithfull, Unemployable, Sad, Dissident, Who You Are, Even Flow, Low Light, Gone, Grievance, Glorified G, Do The Evolution, Why Go

Encore 1 Inside Job, Better Man, Comatose, Rearviewmirror

Encore 2 It Rains On Me, No More, Alive, Yellow Ledbetter

"It Rains On Me" and "No More" were both solo acoustic Vedder. And this setlist, though taken straight from PJ's official site, is incomplete. After "Yellow Ledbetter," they did the Hendrix version of Star Spangled Banner.

:wow:

1. Has Glorified G been on their set list for a while?
I didn't know they were playing it live...I LOVE that song.

Wiki has the answer! "The song was premiered live at the band's June 16, 1993 concert in Missoula, Montana.<4> The song was played live from its debut in 1993 up until 1996 when it was dropped. The song made a return appearance at the band's 2003 show in West Palm Beach, Florida.<4> The song has since returned to Pearl Jam set lists. A live performance of the song appears on the "Dissident"/Live in Atlanta box set."

2. Pearl jam's official website has a great setlist archive...
with lists of when every song has been played. Glorified G was played a bunch of times in 2003-06, but only once in 2007. And, of course, this is the first time in 2008, this being the first PJ show of 2008.

4. Very cool
Haven't seen them since '95 I guess. Only saw half the show because they started around 5 or 6pm. Still don't know why they did that.

5. I saw them several years ago--they're GREAT in concert.
And specifically, the solo acoustic numbers with Vedder were the best ones by far. The concert I saw was a benefit they did with NARAL in Pensacola after the abortion doctors were murdered. EXTREMELY high security getting into the civic center, and a very stripped-down, stark stage (they didn't bring their tour setup with them). They opened with Vedder, standing in the dark onstage, singing a mournful cover of Petty's "Won't Back Down."

I still get chills thinking about it.
