Oxymoron

At least, with residential construction. If you can prove me wrong, please do.

Meanwhile, post your favorite oxymoron. :P

I normally can think of a long list of them, but I'm a bit obsessed with the one I already mentioned. x(

6. I do, too.
We've been living a nightmare with one ... and then we hired another one who was recommended as honest, good, etc., by someone we trust. Well, apparently this guy does business differently with different people. Unfortunately, our neighbor also hired him and they're having trouble too. Not as serious as the original nightmare that promises to continue for at least another year, but aggravating all the same.

:hi: Good to see you, by the way.

18. I just asked my girlfriend for a nice oxymoron or two.
She was quick to come up with the following:

Responsible male behavior (Thanks, honey)

Head butt (her personal favorite)

Death benefits

Exact estimate

Spare change (She came up with this because when people ask me "Got any spare change?" I always answer "There's no such thing.")

While she was thinking of these, I came up with two more:

Instant classic

Express bus

Suicide is not something to be taken lightly or even joked about.

The fact is after reviewing what I posted about "suicide victim" is that they may well be victims.

but you have to do the research. I was a painter for 30 years and our company had an excellent rep with our customers; however...

we knew what builders to work for, and who to avoid. The guys who do the finest work, and are in business for many years, are usually pretty honest.

42. Well, that's a bummer...
I hope you reported them to your contractor's board...the one's here in California keep track of complaints so customers can check a contractor's record. Still, the trades have more than their share of hacks and thieves.

The trades in our area are subject to a lot of competition...it is difficult for shops of the 10-20 man size to stay in business for 30 years if they leave dissatisfied customers behind.

39. For computer nerds: Advanced BASIC.
There's oxymorons.info with some nice examples.

Given what I've heard in the news Charter Communications apparently qualifies as an oxymoron.

Then there's ones I like: Good Lawyer. Criminal Justice. Law abiding illegal alien. Honest thief. Holy crap. Righteous Sin. Scientific Creationism. Budget Deficit. Authentic Replica. Business Ethics. Diminishing Growth. Paid Volunteer. This page intentionally left blank. 100% chance.

And there's more!

Mark.
