HELP - I got my new glasses and now I can't see if I ... |
|
look down! When I look through bottom part of the lens, it give me a total blur. To be able look down, I need to move my head and move my chin to my chest! What the Sam Hill? Must confess, I went to chain 'lens' store.

When I wear mine at the computer, I have to raise my head so I can see through the bottom part. My neck is killing me.

2. At this point I don't know what they are. |
|
My old glasses (which I now have to wear to walk, drive etc.) have bifocals and still I can see using the entire lens. This new pair has bifocals also, but they are completely a blur (totally useless) for me. The upper part of the lens is perfect for reading, but if my eyes lower to read something, I have to move my head to keep things in focus. Driving with them on is horrible, especially at stop signs, moving my head to look for traffic makes me queasy with the motion. Walking down steps is a nightmare too or just plain walking. I'm going to take them back today, but am wondering what sort of hassle I'm in for. ?????????????????

It sounds like they screwed up your prescription. You're supposed to see close things sharply through the bottom lenses and farther things sharply through the upper lens. What you're describing sounds like the opposite of that!

14. I broke down and got 2 pairs of glasses for that reason |
|
I couldn't deal with the spins I was getting with the constantly shifting focus.
Take them back - if you can't see they're worthless.

3. I was gonna ask the same question.. Bifocals? |
|
My mom used to wear them and she had to tilt her head back to see some things. It made her look really snooty and mean. I'd tell her not to look at me like that and she'd reply she was just trying to see me. Now she just wears reading glasses, after lasic surgery. She can't see the TV or anything else really. Yeah, that was money well spent!

5. Sorry for your moms luck... |
|
But ya' know bifocals are supposed to help you see Better...these so called bifocal part of the lens, I can't see anything clearly!
I guess I'm just anxious as to what kind of run around I'm in for when I take them back.

4. "my neck is killing me" |
|
That's why I went in to get my eyes tested. I have the same pain in the neck as you I bet. Maybe you could try tilting your computer screen by putting something under the front of the moniters base to prop the entire screen upward. I used a small book to give me the right height that was comfortable.

6. If you got the "invisible"bifocals, you might be looking right through |
|
the line where it transitions from the regular lens to the bifocal?

8. The upper part of the lens, I see beautifully, but the lower part is completely useless |
|
for near or far vision. So you're saying I'd need a larger glass frame?

That happened to my mother. She had to end up getting glasses that she didn't like the look of (bigger frames) but she could see much better.

12. If you have progressive bifocals, they can be that way for a while. |
|
I had mine for a while now, I find I still move my glasses around, either on top of my head or down on my nose for certain reading. When I complained, I was told that there are certain areas of the bi-focal for whatever distance/closeness you happen to be reading and that eventually it would become automatic for your eyes to find that spot. For me to read my monitor with my glasses, I have to tilt my head back, raising my chin and there is one spot directly in the lower center where I can read the monitor. If I shift my eyes either way it's blurry.
They also told me it takes a lot of head movement, both turning your head side to side and up and down. It's also normal to be dizzy or disoriented a few days or so they told me.
I don't like them.
