We have a dog food thief.
Everyday this little fella saunters up to the dog food bowls, takes a piece and saunters away. I took this shot the other day when he got himself into the bowl but couldn't get out. Today, when I got home I looked out the window and he came around the side of the dog house. There was no food in the bowl but he climbed in again. I had to get some food and take it out. I took him out of the bowl, gave him a piece, and filled the bowls. By this time the dogs came to eat. Apparently he didn't like the piece I gave him so he bellied up to the bowls with the dogs, took one he like better and left.

6. Two black lab mix.
This was taken a few months ago. The little one isn't so little anymore. She doesn't know what to make of this strange critter and runs circles around it barking. Of course, the turtle is totally unphased.
The bigger one walked up on it in the bowl the other day, looked at it, looked at me and walked away. It was priceless!

20. Yeah, I'm doing OK.
Have I ever mentioned my Dad's turtle?

He's an OTR trucker, and one day he spotted a turtle that had
successfully crossed 3 lanes of highway, but was blocked by the
center divider. So Dad stopped and picked him up, and made him
his truckin' buddy for a year or so.

He named him 'Booger', fixed up a box for him on the passenger
seat, and took him along on all his runs. Booger seemed pretty
content with the deal. At least, he never had a word of complaint
about it.

Then one day, they were passing the same spot going the other
direction, and Dad said that Booger "gave him a look", and he
just knew that Booger was ready to move on.

So he stopped and turned him loose, and Booger continued crawling
toward whatever goal he had been headed for when Dad first saw
him a year earlier.

9. Hee hee, cute little guy!

I loves the turtles! I saved one a few weeks ago just like yours, my turtle guy managed to make it across three busy lanes of traffic on Main Street in my hometown on Memorial Day before I got there and escorted him to the river thirty yards or so away.

Great pic and funny story, thanks.

this time of year. They are all moving around alot now, especially with all the rains we've had. Too many people out here (read: rednecks) hit them intentionally. x(

How ya doin'? Thanx for helping Lizzie to settle in. :hi:

13. I had pet turtles as a kid, and have a real fondness for them.

And... doing good and glad to have sister lizzie all moved in. She is so much fun! BTW, we decided that she's just the start of a DU cool people pilgrimage to 'sconny. We're going to start a commune. So let us know when you'll be heading up this way and we'll get the dates to the planning commission, 'k?

:7

Anyone who would do that to turtles needs to be ostracized as a cruel and vicious #@$%&! :nuke:

That is just totally heartless.

How are you feeling these days? I haven't been keeping up very well, I'm afraid. PM me if you would like.

15. We had a pair of thieves once

One would sneak into the garage where we kept the dog food and would push the pellets under the garage door one at a time. The accomplice would then take them and fly them up into a tree. It was pretty amusing to watch.

Bird-brain indeed.

The raccoons sneak in my house at night and clean out any cat food left in the bowls. Damned little bandits.

41. Funny you should mention that.
I don't have a problem with the rest of the kitchen as long as I'm here. However I took off over the Thanksgiving holidays a few years ago and forgot to put the leftover bread in the fridge. Oy vey! What a mess when I returned. Ruined my brand new (expensive) bread box.

30. It took awhile.
We've only had the little dog since March and she drives our bigger dog crazy. With the turtle, I think the big dog just thinks we're inflicting yet another pet on her. She just seems to have resigned herself to the situation. :hi:

43. re; is it a he or a she -
I remember from one of our nature walks when my kids were little that, at least in some species, the male has a concave area (a depression) on his underside, so that he fits better against the convex shell of the female when he mounts her. The underside of the female is flat, I believe.
No time to find the details, but The Google should help...

This gal on the other hand looks like she could be quite unpleasant while she does the same thing.
