My son discovered (Herbie) The Love Bug (original version, 1968) yesterday
It was perfect for him--he's a 4YO car nut. I LOVED the Herbie movies when I was little, and I got a kick out of watching this one again. Michelle Lee with HUGE bouffant hair and a closeup of a gas pump that showed a gallon of gas cost...

wait for it...

forty cents.

4. Oh dear gods!

I certainly hope not--at least not for a few more years! (My friend, a great psychic, said my boy is going to be quite the chick magnet. :scared:)

7. Indeed. I'm glad I got some advance notice that he'd be a ladies' man.
I'm not one of those namby-pamby moms who can't handle sex ed. I will have no problem uttering "Here, son, this is a condom." :hi:

3. Herbie was the best!

"The Love Bug" was the first movie I ever saw on an airplane. I think the plane was a 707, and the TVs were tiny things shoved up on the luggage rack (which looked more like the shelves you see on buses rather than the compartments you get on airliners today), about one for every ten rows. By today's seatback multimedia standards, it was crap, but I thought it was great, like living in the future.

And the movie rocked!

5. I saw all the old Disney films at this crappy theater near the lake
Herbie and all the sequels, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Escape to Witch Mountain... My poor dad used to take me to every. single. one. of. them. Every Sunday matinee (1:10 p.m.! I still remember!) Sticky floors, garbage never swept, the whole nine yards. I never noticed at the time, though. I was in heaven--I LOVED all those movies.
