*I hate being ignored!!!!!!*
Don't you hate it when you just REALLY need to know something, so you email someone who may know the answer to your question, but they just NEVER answer you?

For example: I went to an all-girls summer camp called Birch Trail in Minong, WI, in 1980-83. Every year, we had a traditional color war called Pow Wow Day, in which the whole camp dressed up like Native-American Indians and played silly games. Selected oldest campers got to be "chiefs" and "braves" (the photo in my sig line is from Pow Wow Day 1982). I so wanted to go to BT long enough to be a Pow Wow Day chief, but my parents could no longer afford camp after 1983.

So I have wondered for over two decades: If I HAD gone to BT long enough, would I have been a Pow Wow Day chief? My TM year would have been the summer of 1986 (TM stands for "Tamarack Mansion" the oldest campers' cabin). I've emailed the current director several times over the fast few summers, but have never been answered. As of 2003, Pow Wow Day is no more (I guess they considered it politically incorrect or something), but do they have to ignore me and pretend Pow Wow Day just never existed? No, of course not: Their plaques of past Pow Wow Days are plastered all over the all of their theater hall. I've seen them in pictures, but they are awfully hard to read.

3. As a kid, did you ever go to summer camp?
Most camps have a traditional "color war" for the whole camp. They dress up in team colors, appoint the oldest campers as team leaders, and compete in silly games and events.

4. summer camp was always..

..an awkward experience for me. It was all a bit cliqueish and I was too self-conscious to enjoy myself much.

6. It would be kind of pointless for me to go to camp...
As I grew up in the mountains.

But, I can assure you if I had gone to camp I would have voted for you to be a team leader in the "color war".

2. I just put you on my ignore list.

Just kidding. Sorry this happened, but maybe there's something else you can participate in now that would make up for it.

5. Thanks for not ignoring me! ;)
Actually, I don't need to "make up" for it. I just need an answer no one can or will give me, that's all.

7. "I've emailed the current director..." - use the phone!!!!
Most or a lot of people don't answer their e-mails. My sister was a VP at a Co. and she yelled
at me one time because I was miffed she hadn't responded to my e-mail (s) and she said, "do you
realize how many e-mails I get a day? If I answered all of them, I'd never get any work done."
Of course, I do understand that but now that she's retired and has her own Co.? She replies to
my e-mails almost immediately! :P

Perhaps your e-mails are in that director's spam folder and he/sher doesn't even know you sent an e-mail?

8. Right now....
I'm too shy to call, but if I don't hear from them by the end of the summer, I just might!

12. Have you tried calling the Reference desk at a local library for the information?
That is a service at libraries and if you call or visit them and tell them the specific info. that
your looking for, they will research it and look it up and if they can find it, they'll call you with it!

10. You're not being ignored
The current director has been passing your email around to everyone he knows with the comment, "Can you believe this person has been wondering about this for TWO DECADES?!!! :wow: "

11. Yeah
What always bugs me is when you e-mail somebody asking them a question or questions and they respond to you without addressing any of the questions that you had in your e-mail. 'cause that puts you in the position of having to ask the same questions again, pretending that you haven't already asked them, and ignoring the fact that they either didn't actually fully read your e-mail or purposely ignored your questions for some other reason!

Yeah, I should probably lighten up about all of that, but it really bothers me. If there's one thing I'm anal about, it's fully reading e-mails I get from people and, certainly, addressing any questions that they asked me, if they included any. It just seems very inconsiderate to me to not at least give people that level of consideration.
