Major donor event tonight. Invitations went out three weeks ago. I got fifteen RSVP's today. Do they think I can just conjure up food out of thin air? RSVP by , doesn't that mean anything?
I can't really turn them away; they are major donors after all but come ON people. And why, when the invite says you plus a guest, do they RSVP for five?
I need to get out of the event biz....:eyes:

1. I know I blame Reagan for a lot of things, but this is another of his, I think. |

Though it might have started earlier, but Reagan (and his whole Republican cabal) made impoliteness and tackiness acceptable, and it's filtered into every aspect of life now.

4. That bugs the hell out of me too. And this: |
|
Making a reservation for a table of eight at a catered fundraising dinner and not showing up. And not paying for the tickets. That and other no shows who hadn't paid in advance cost us for 15 dinners that no one ate. Next year, ALL advance sales. NO pay at the door! :grr:

Especially when it's a fundraiser.
I also hate it when people beg me to get them tickets to something, I use my connections to get them (usually comps), then they don't go. I've stopped doing that too.

6. They do it because they can. |
|
As you wrote, you can't really turn them away. I suspect they're counting on that. The best one can do as an event planner in that circumstance is to have a bigger buffer on the food orders and risk losing some money on unused food.
I did some event planning and hated it because of behavior like this. There are always people who think the rules don't apply to them and unfortunately they're often correct.

7. They're donors. They expect all the slobbering over them that comes with that |
