Is there any Glory in being a Yankees fan?
Edited on Wed Jul-16-08 04:08 PM by JonathanChance
To you Yankoffs fans I say, Fuck, no. Basically your team has sat around, collected the most revenue without having to share, and then turned around and bought the best players off of other teams to go on and accumulate over 25 supposed Championships.
Is there really any pride to be found in being the biggest adult bully on the block and picking fights with grade schoolers by comparison? Wasn't there an Old Ladies Knitting team you could have picked a fight with instead?
Does the concept of the true meaning of a League escape Yankee fans entirely? Or is it just about winning a rigged game no matter what the appearance?

2. By the way, fuck the yankees!
I hope they finish with the worst record in Major League Baseball this season!

4. If one lives in or comes from NY, then sure.
The ole "root for the home team" is a good premise (and the Mets? c'mon).

However, if one is a fan purely for the bandwagon ride of the last 12 or so years, then no. It's like being an American and being a Manchester United FC fan. Makes you an idiot.

The Yankees themselves, rather the team itself, sucks Gary Busey's balls. Hope they're enjoying 3rd place, which they've been LUCKY to hold on to.

6. Hey! watch it now!
What's wrong with the Mets? I'm a native New Jersey-an(ite?) and I'd rather root for my lovable losers than the Yank-offs any day because on that glorious day when they finally do win it all, it will have been so worth all those years of pain. I grew up in the early 90's and lemme tell you it was *not* easy to be a Mets fan and it sucked doubly when the Yankees went on their little run. Being a lifelong Mets fan is character-building!

10. I'm
teasing the Mets fans because I think Yankees fans think this way. You kidding me? Like the Mets? I've got two words for you: Nolan Ryan.

9. Blame the owners, MLB management
but don't blame the fans.

I've been a Yankees fan since I came out of the womb.
For most of my childhood, the Yankees sucked.
I was 18 in 1996 when they won the World Series for the first time since the year I was born (1978).
Yeah, the wait wasn't 80-plus years like for Red Sox fans but I used to literally cry when I was a child watching the Yankees lose.
Don Mattingly was (is) my fave player ever and the year after he retires the Yanks win the World Series. It was so bitter sweet for me that WS title in 1996.

I believe there is glory and pride in being a Yankees fan.

Owners and MLB management has let this thing get out of hand. Other teams have followed suit (Red Sox, Mets, Dodgers to name a few). Is it out of hand? Yes. But it's not the fans' fault.
