My yesterday morning, 24 hours on.
Came to around the usual 5:30ish and had the day all set in front of me. Thurday and Friday mean one less driver, and instead of my usual warehousing and dispatching, more time on the road. The night before as I left work, I Could Have Sworn that the notebook containing most (50 or more) of the hand-written drafts of the parodies I post on DU was sitting in my passenger seat next to me.

I got dressed, surfed DU and at about 6:30, I went out to retrieve it and work on the latest piece of silliness. It wasn't there.

Hello panic.

I leave the car door unlocked because I can, and visions of someone taking it filled my head and I began that search and cuss mission that I dread, for it brings out my worst. My very worst.

An hour of re-tracing steps and looking in places I hadn't even been the night before ended with the somber resolve that it was gone. And off to work I grumbled, cursing all the way.

Into work I staggered clutching the faint hope I'd left it there, and lo and behold, my Could Have Sworn was hallucination. There sat the notebook, exactly where I had left it. Sigh of relief with a capital WHEW.

The rest of the day was a study in being unphased by much of anything.

I'd have much rather been phased by almost anything.

Bartender, another anything please.
