OK, after a few weeks, I can conclude: I love DishTV!

I got rid of Comcast cable and sadly, had to lose my beloved Tivo.

But the DishTV DVR isn't nearly as bad as I'd feared. It has some nice features that Tivo lacks, and it's HD with two tuners. We have two boxes on two TVs so we can record pretty much anything now.

I get a ridiculous number of channels, and all this for just a few dollars more than I was paying for cable.
