The most overhyped movie I've ever seen may also be one of the best I've ever seen. |
|
The Dark Knight - wow. It was even better than I thought it would be; proof-positive that big summertime movies don't have to be merely mindless fluff. Yes, Heath Ledger was amazing and deserves an Oscar nomination, but so does Christopher Nolan (for writing and direction), Aaron Eckhert, and the film itself. Somehow it manages to be an engrossing action movie while at the same time asking important questions about the type of society we've chosen to live in and the kind of heroes we deserve.
I know there's going to be a lot of eye-rolling and probably a large backlash because of the huge amount of hype, but damn - in my mind the movie earns it. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

2. On very rare occasions, hype is there for a reason. |

This is one of those occasions. I saw it last night and my mind is still blown.
As a lifelong comics fan, this is what comics at their best can be.

3. My son would agree with you wholeheartedly. |
|
My daughter would not. I am in between. I think the hype, from the press and my son, made me expect more of the movie than what was there. Other than that, it was okay. But I have a headache from listening to my son praising it (on the phone) and my daughter complaining about it in person. Last night they were doing it at the same time. :D

4. I saw it earlier today. |

I am not a big fan of comic book movies but it was awesome. It was one of the best movies I have seen in a while.

5. I was never into comic books either. |
|
I still haven't seen the first 2 Spiderman movies. This wasn't merely an excellent comic book movie; it was an excellent movie, period. A number of critics have compared it favorably to The Godfather, The Untouchables, and The Departed, and I agree with them.
