This weekend our two terriers found a porcupine and received about 500 quills! The older dog who has attacked a porcupine dozens of time finally started to learn not to attack, and she only got about 20. But the younger dog got the rest and had to go to the vet. She got de-quilled plus two shots to put here under, gas, a rabies shot a shot of penicillin and another inoculation for around $100. Damn dogs never learn. If at all possible in your area, try to find a large animal vet. Usually they are grateful to work on smaller pets who aren't trying to kick them and charge far less. (horses, cow etc)
