If you can see the two little things next to the smiley, I'll be surprised - this was an accident, but a cute one, regardless.

7. Do the flat screen monitors really
throw off as much heat as everyone says? More than the older ones? And is it true that if you get a large monitor on your laptop the battery will last less time?

9. Hmm.....great question!
The new LCD monitors use less energy, but concentrate the heat towards the back of the unit.
A LCD monitor vs a CRT saves you at least 40% in electricity usage.

As far as the energy usage of new laptops, look at all the equipment before making a judgment.

If you have a large screen but simple graphics and only one hard drive, you will have the same (or better) battery life of someone who has a very small screen but additional graphics capability, multiple hard drives, faster processor, etc.

Works fine on my bench. Mount it in the case-powers on but won't post. I'll screw with it in the morning, time for bed.

20. Why does the warranty on my computer not cover the cupholder?
I've broken three of them and they say I have to pay for it the next time instead of them fixing it under warranty.

Why buy a warranty if they won't fix things when they break? It's their own fault for making cheap cupholders. Although it's not so cheap when they quoted me the price to fix it if it breaks again -- $150 for a steenkin' cupholder!

21. If you have a full mug of Southern Comfort, do NOT hit the eject button on the "cup-holder"
Wait until the mug is empty (And probably on the floor,) then utilize the magic of the cup-holder.

(Hopefully with some kind of optical disc!)

28. I prefer scotch, SoCo just tastes kinda grody to me.
Glad you caught the joke, then again that one has been around so long.... I was worried someone might think I was serious!

The only unorthodox use I have ever had for my optical drive was to hide my pack of birth control pills.

I'm serious.... my mom knew I was on the Pill and approved 100%, but we lived with my grandparents, and my mother did not want my grandmother to know that I was on the Pill. I got them in three month quantities, and hid the extras at my father's house, but the active packet fit nicely in my optical drive. My grandmother was scared to even touch my computer, so we knew that was the one place in the house they wouldn't get found!

And the CD-ROM suffered no ill-effects from its extra function as a clandestine birth control dispenser.

this is an old trick we used to play on friends.....

It really is cruel though. They only have a USB keyboard and then you go into the BIOS and disable USB. LOL

The only way out is to flash the bios or re-initialize it.
