Does that sound reasonable, or is Midas taking me for a ride.

1. Sounds on the high side....
but I've never owned or worked on a Honda, so I don't know how difficult it is to install alternators and belts. Did they break the charges down into parts and labor?

2. How much did they charge for Labor?
That sounds hella high. Alternators are very easy to replace, unless there is something weird with your cars design.

Call the local honda dealer and ask them how much they would charge to do that job.

3. That sounds to be on the high side of reasonable.
Hell, when I needed to replace my alternator (1990 Honda Accord), my dad and I made a day of it. He brought over his tools, we went out (in his car obviously :P) to buy an alternator, came back, took out the old one, put the new one in. Only reason it took a few hours was because I didn't know what the hell I was doing.

And in this model the alternator was underneath the power steering pump, so we had to take it out and put it back in and put the belts back on both.

4. *Seems* high
A new alternator should run about $100. I don't know about labor; on older Toyotas you had to drop the transmission or lift the engine off it's mounts to get to the alternator.

That would eat up some labor $$$s.

Did you get an itemized estimate? If not, I'd take it elsewhere and compare.

5. It really depends on how much the alternator cost.
Japanese imports have a reputation for being expensive.

6. Just put an alternator on for 435$
so with labor and belts it is not totally unreasonable. I got the lifetime alternator since this is my third one.
