24. Which fan club foamdad? |
|
There was a real active one here in St Louis called the CIA: Celestial Intervention Agency. I think it is still around but now focuses on general sci-fi and not only Dr Who.

Uh, make that seven.
Eight, actually...
Or nine. The BBC is working on a new version, 13 50-minute episodes (:wow:) to debut in Spring 2005, unless Tony Blair-witch disbands the BBC first...
Or eight, I can't believe the Americanized Doctor is canon. He's just a better looking copycat of the 5th Doctor, who looked delicious in that wig... :D Obviously, the BBC is taking a big chance. Most sci-fi coming out of the BBC (eg Neverwhere, Crime Traveller, et al) seem to be limited to 6 eps per season... but I might be missing something, I haven't kept up with them in years...

7. I could take anyone at DU on when it comes to Doctor Who trivia. |
|
In fact, consider that a challenge, DU.
P.S. The Sixth Doctor isn't canon in my book, purely for reasons of overall shitness.

Few stories were crap (e.g. "Twin Dilemma", "Delta and the Bannermen", "The Gunfighters", "Ghost Light", season 17...); but as the 80s progressed, the production quality was generally lacklustre if not poor.

I direct you to (of course!) The Horns of Nimon. Closely followed by the aforementioned Twin Dilemma and Dragonfire. McCoy was doomed by his first season, which is probably the worst overall. However bad Season Seventeen (the Pantomime season) was, it still had the majestically silly City of Death.

ago but back in da day....NO ONE not even the MASTER could beat me!
I knew my Who!
Of course I was obsessed to say the least.
Anyone here ever read the fanzines? My favorite Dr Who fan artist was Cheryl Duvall from New Orleans. She was awesome!

I am not into 007 but I understand the comparison.
I loathed Peter Davison...as a matter of fact there was a filk song back in the '80s about the 5th Doctor called "Dr Who is going preppy." I cannot remember the words but if I get a hankering I'll look through my old fanzines and see if I cand find it and will post it.
The Fourth Doctor was my obsession as well. I still have my scarf (both kinds...the multi colored one as well as the more purple toned one).

25. Davison played it too human, that was the problem. |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-23-04 09:54 PM by Screaming Lord Byron
I like him, and I like his acting, but the best actors to play the part (Baker, Troughton, maybe McCoy and Pertwee) managed to capture the essential alienness of the role. Pertwee was great, but too human, too suave, authoritarian, like the Timelord Pierre Trudeau, really. Baker had the anarchic side of the character perfectly.

That was my favorite show as a teenager. I secretly hoped that there really was a Doctor and I would be his next companion.

Until Tom Baker, so he is naturally my favorite Dr., but I have to say that I've lucked into seeing some of the older episodes and really enjoyed most of them. Used to watch it on the weekends along with A show called The Goodies... (Gotta love that wonderful British humor).
