1. My husband got a BS in IT Management from there. |
|
It landed him a very decent job in IT after he graduated, so I think I'd have to say "yes" in terms of practical application.
However, he didn't think much of the academic abilities of his classmates while he was there and kept saying he wished our circumstances were different so he could attend a full-time liberal arts type of university, just for the experience of being at a "real" college.

I taught one semester there. The textbook was awful; it was picked because of some kind of deal between UofP and the publisher. I think a college picking a text because the publisher would give a kickback is beyond the pale. I've heard that employers don't like UofP degrees so what I've heard is different from the experience of someone else in this thread. It may depend on the particular campus.

I did not know that. I do have to point out that happens a lot though (one of my friends from college is a Ph.D candidate and lecturer, he gets offers all the time and says it accounts for maybe 50% of textbook decisions by colleagues.)...either the book is chosen because of financial arrangements or books are chosen because the professor wrote the book and wants to boost sales. I had a prof. in college who made us buy all 12 of his books and then we never used any of them.
Employers tend to look down on all online degrees. It's rather unfortunate, as many education-seekers don't have non-online options due to life-circumstance. I think as it becomes more common that stigma will go away, also that the quality of online education will rise.

I fully vetted them because I was skeptical...ultimately I decided to not pursue my MBA at this time.
If I do so later...it'll be in a brick-and-mortar university only because I want that experience. I got my B.A. through a university which is by-and-large a Catholic seminary so while I had the on-campus experience I never really had a real college experience.
I think it's a good school for those who aren't in a position to quit their job and go back to school full time.
