"Document everything" is great for situations where there's some sort of abuse, but I also see that philosophy being abused, all the time.

I was really spoiled in the atmosphere at my first two gigs. People who would be likely to have ego issues weren't hired in the first place. Here, they're not only hired, they're indulged! Politics were non-existent, and I never, ever felt I had to aggressively compete against my co-workers to advance.

4. Documenting everything

means protecting yourself. It doesn't require that you go running to the boss with your documentation. It means being prepared to defend yourself. :hi:
