What music have you listened to lately?
Me:

Sugarland - Love On The Inside
Aly & AJ - Insomniatic
I Nine - Heavy Weighs The King
The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

All highly recommended! The Sugarland is their best yet. And Aly & AJ make great pop music - IMO better than Miley Cyrus, Ashlee Simpson and Britney Spears and much better than Hilary Duff and Jessica Simpson.

1. Jaguar Love - "Take Me To The Sea"
Raveonettes - "Lust Lust Lust"
My Disco - "Cancer" (They have an album that came out this year called "Paradise", which is probably fucking awesome, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.)

My friends' band The Class War Kids put out an album recently, "A Strong people Need No Leader." Really fun anarchist punk rock.

No famous artists (most famous might be Infected Mushroom), mostly underground artists and DJs.

15. My wife and daughter both love that song
I find it a tad derivative... of Amy Winehouse, who is, herself, derivative...

Still, it gets in your head.

17. I think Duffy's music is even better than Amy's
Though it's hard to beat Amy's voice. They both do a good update on 60s R&B IMO.

18. I'd say Amy is the better singer.
I've only heard that one Duffy song, so I would hesitate to pass any judgement.

I think the thing that bugs me about the Duffy song is the low fidelity sound. Sure, it adds to that early 60's authenticity, but I just find it off-putting.

Not a bad song... but a hard ear-worm to shake!

:P

Many cool CDs in the last couple of months to recap....

Nachmystium - Assassins
Shining - The Eerie Cold
Made Out Of Babies - Ruiner (CD of the year potential with this one)
Melvins - Nude With Boots
Leviathan - Massive Conspiracy To End All Life (The CD Made Out Of Babies has to beat for CD of the year. This is a great, complex, and dare I say "progressive" black metal CD, and one of the best I've heard)
Genghis Tron - Board Up The House
The Noise Of Sound - (Assorted "songs" by my friend's one man project. Messed up stuff. I like it)
Firewater - The Golden Hour
Grails - Take Refuge In Clean Living
Ihsahn - AngL
Coffins - Buried Death (the lowest of low ends, the grimiest of guitars from these Japanese death metal merchants. Old school and fresh at the same time)
The Bags - Night of the Corn People (old Boston based band from the 80's)
5ive - Hesperus
Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom

Plus a ton of bands on Myspace that I don't even own anything by yet.

Eagerly awaiting releases from Michael Franti and Spearhead, Paris, and Woe within the next month or so.
