Lounge vibes for Morgan Freeman....seriously injured in car accident.
Academy Award winning actor Morgan Freeman was seriously injured in a car accident in Mississippi on Sunday night according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Police report that Freeman, 71, was driving eastbound on Highway 32 near the town of Ruleville, Miss., around 11:30 p.m. when his car left the road and flipped several times.

Police say Freeman and a female passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle and the actor was flown to a hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where he was listed in serious condition. There was no word on the condition of the passenger.

TMZ.com is reporting that state troopers say "The Dark Knight" star was talking at the scene of the accident.

4. He is at The Med in Memphis
They are one of the top trauma hospitals in the country.....they don't take you to The Med unless you are in serious condition.

11. Well that and I am sure Ruleville's hospital doesn't really do trauma.
Does Ruleville even have a hospital? The nearest one may have been in Clarksdale or Cleveland! Either way, most people who are in accidents in that area go to Memphis.

The Mississppi Highway Patrol has identified Freeman's passenger as Demaris Meyer. Freeman was driving Meyer's 1997 Nissan Maxima eastbound on Highway 32 when he ran off the edge of the road, flipping the car. We're told both were wearing seat belts at the time.

And get this -- an editor for a local Mississippi newspaper tells the AP when one looky-loo whipped out a cell phone at the scene of Morgan Freeman's accident and tried to snap a pic of the actor, Freeman joked, "no freebies, no freebies." Everyone's a journalist these days!

Cops say Freeman was coherent and talking to police and paramedics.

UPDATE: Freeman's rep confirms the actor broke his shoulder and arm, but expects him to make a "good" recovery.

That's good news.

7. Hey, Morgan!

Heard you needed these!

Seriously, I'm glad to hear that his condition is not as grave as earlier reports made it out to be. He is definitely one of my favorite actors!

:hi:
