Background checks . . . Grr . . . |
|
I had to go online and pay $16.32 for a background check with the Indiana State Police in order to apply for a substitute teaching position. I understand the background check, but $16.32? And why should I be the one paying for it? :grr:

1. Hell, just show them all your police blotter clippings, that's what I do. |

3. As background checks go, that's cheap. |

People who want to work for my family's business have to pay for their own DMV printout and drug screen. The printout is $5 and the whiz quiz is $40, both are legally required.

A job-hunter doesn't have money to thrown down a hole like that. There's something very wrong here. What if the person doesn't even get the job? :grr:

8. All the background checks/drug tests I've ever had to take were paid for by the company hiring me |
|
but to save themselves money, they'd save them for last. When I applied at Target, they did the drug test AFTER I passed the interview. Same with the background check at UPS. And actually I don't know if my current job did a background check or not... I suspect the 'are we allowed to do a background check' question is just to make guilty people panic and leave. :P
