I've been in a depression/anxiety episode for the last couple of weeks that's been getting worse by the day. I haven't had the meds for it for about three months, and it seems that's catching up with me now.

I thought I'd get it taken care of today, but I just found out I can't get in to see my doctor for Lexapro until Aug. 26, and that's a big setback.

I don't know how much I'll be around while this is going on. I just want you guys to know that I'm not dead, and I miss you, but I just haven't felt very much like posting, or doing much of anything else, for that matter.

2. Call your dr's office back and demand they call in a script for you.

I don't see why they wouldn't, if you've been on meds previously. If they won't do it, go to the ER. You may be thinking to yourself that that would be an overreaction. You'd be wrong. Do something TODAY.

Lexapro hasn't gone generic yet — in fact, I recall reading that the manufacturer did something to extend the patent until 2011 — and I can't afford it at the brand-name price.

Can't afford an ER bill, either.

I mean, everyone, thank you SO very much, but I just can't accept that. It's just — dammit, I don't know how to say this without sounding like an ass. Accepting "charity," for lack of a more appropriate term, just goes against my nature. I can't explain that (except maybe on a psychiatrist's couch), it's just how I am. I mean no disrespect whatsoever, and I don't think I'd ever stop thanking everyone for just the thought.

Lexapro is just the left handed isomer of Celexa and in fact, while lexapro is more prescribed, we use celexa more often in our elderly patients because it is less stimulating. So anxiety will respond to celexa and it is generic.

If the cost of meds is one of the things holding you down ask your doctor if there's any generic on the "$4" pharmacy list that might be effective. (My most important med is $7.00 because I don't want my prescriptions at Wal-Mart.)

There are some drug assistance programs you may be able to take advantage of...
OR you could consider looking to see if there are any clinical trials being run in your area..If you find a Phase 2 or 3 they are fairly safe and offer free meds/treatment...

Lizziegrace tipped me to it awhile back — a three-month supply at no charge. I got the form online, filled it out and gave it to my doctor for her to fill out her part and submit it, but they said it takes 4-6 weeks to process and it hasn't been that long.
