Richardo Reviews: Mummy 3: The One About China
Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 10:54 PM by Richardo
Pros: I saw it at a Movie Tavern and they served beer.

Cons: Writing, acting, plotting, special effects, editing. Total crapfest.

2. The first one was fun, the second one was less so, the spin-off I didn't see.
This one looked absurd. On the plus side, they got out of Egypt. On the downside, everything else.

Favorite paragraph from a review came from the Seattle Times critic Mark Rahner:

'The chase brings them all to the mythical mountain city of Shangri-La, invented by author James Hilton (who's not mentioned in the credits) and the setting for one of the greatest adventure films of all time, 1937's "Lost Horizon." Except in this Shangri-La there are fiercely cute computer-animated yetis who do a sort of Gooooal! cheer when they kick a bad guy through a building. They should share a beverage with the Coca-Cola polar bears afterward. The spirit of Ronald Colman screams for justice.'

3. The funniest line in the movie:
They're done with some huge fight at a mountain redoubt and Brendan Fraser is injured and they must make the harrowing, dangerous journey to Shangri-la.

Long shot of the ragtag group, exhausted, beginning the arduous journey, and in the next cut, 7 seconds later, the young guide says perkily: "We're here!"

I laughed and laughed.

6. Is that a local variation on the Alamo Drafthouse?
I like movies. I like beer. Beer make bad movies tolerable.

Beer.

30. I saw Constantine, with Keanu Reeves, in the theater...
It's a terrible film and Reeves is just awful in it.

At the end of the film, they've got some dangerous dark object to dispose of, and Reeves says something like, "We've got to put it somewhere where no one will ever find it." Without any forethought, I yelled, "That shouldn't be hard - just put it with your ACTING ABILITY." The entire theater laughed and applauded. I've never said anything out loud in a movie theater before or since.

...I don't know where that story came from...

8. At least you got to drink beer!
The closest theater to me is in the outskirts of New Orleans.

I get daquiris made with FRESH strawberries when we go to the movie. :D

It's the only thing that helped me get through the atrosity known as "Mr and Mrs Smith."

(How ya doin', buddy? How was the weather today? I thought about you!)

26. Hi Maddy!
TS 'Eduardo' was about as big a bust as The Mummy. Some rain, little if any wind by the time it got to the west side of town. :boring: Which is to say - a good way to have a tropical storm.

My son was just a lil ol toddler, and he's say, "Mommy, I wanna watch Timmy the Toof."

I'd say, "No, let's watch George of the Jungle again."

We watched GotJ for the profound existential themes, moving character development and the break though cinematography. (Well, that's what I told the spousal unit.)

The female lead was next to horrible.

Cheese don't play in today's cinema.

27. I wish my town had a movie tavern.
I have never heard of those...

Oh, and I have no interest in seeing this new film. Ever since I heard there was no Rachel Weisz, I had zero interest in seeing it.
