Nothing in life is ever simple: now my two docs disagree.... |
|
So I went to my local hematologist yesterday and got some relatively good news..platelets are under a million for the first time since late last year..(921) and my wbc's are down too.. Now here's the disagreement..Which med is actually HELPING. Doc from Mayo things its Hydrea+Interferon. Local doc thinks its just Hydrea. Guess which one I tolerate least well? Hydrea. The nausea and vomiting still occur, if not as frequently. I took my dose of Interferon last week with NO side effects. Funny thing is..after I got off the Hydrea the first time I took it..my platelets stayed low (for me) much longer than could have been expected if it was the hydrea that had been controlling it. So how much does the hydrea actually do? Gargh. Waiting to hear Mayo docs opinion on where to go next.. Frustrating..Not only do I have a rare disease, but I'm much younger than the average patient, I don't have the biomarker that about 50% of the patients do, my disease seems to behave atypically from the norm AND I react to the drugs in a highly unusual fashion! Aren't I special!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Why couldn't you just get leprosy or something well understood? Who are you trying to impress?
