LaraMN: Queen of the gentle let-down. |
|
I was at an outdoor concert with friends last weekend and I had a few drinks. I was engrossed in conversation with my friend when a couple boys (and I mean BOYS) wandered over, interrupted us, and proceeded to initiate annoying pseduo-suave behavior. They asked if we had boyfriends around and my friend abruptly said, "no, but her HUSBAND is sitting over there."
They would not leave, and kept trying to chat us up. I got really annoyed, and in my modestly intoxicated state asked "how old ARE you guys, anyway?" One responded that he was 21, the other 23. In a most tactful and dignified manner, I burst out laughing and hollered, "you guys are BABIES!"
They STILL wouldn't go away, even after MrLaraMN finally wandered over looking stern and unamused by their presence.
My friend said I was really mean. I think she's overly nice.

In fairness, I probably "feel" my age due in part to my familial status. Nevertheless, those guys looked like twelve-year-olds to me!

I am convinced there is nothing DUMBER than a 21-25 year old boy with some alcohol in him.

I mean, I know you are very pretty and all, but when they learned of your husband, they should have known better than to stick around...

She's too polite to brush people off; she seems to feel obligated to talk to people even if she doesn't really want to.

14. Yeah- it also takes her about twenty years to leave from anywhere. |
|
Her process of "saying goodbye" requires about an hour of parting conversation.

11. Really nothing worse than a gentle let-down |
|
I'd rather take a sledgehammer to the groin than to go through a gentle let-down. The meaner the better, I say.

I was also very annoyed because I hadn't seen my friend in a while and she was sharing some information I wanted to hear about.

I assume Little MB is fine - she's been at summer camp for three weeks now and I have received two single sentenced letters the first week and that is it
I guess she is having fun
I will be seeing her this weekend. :pals:
And the MN kids - how are they?

The MNkids are awesome. Jack has learned to name colors, which is big for him. Now if he would call me "mommy" instead of "YAraaaah!" I would be very pleased!

This week Mr MB is out of town on business and I am all alone every night with nothing but the dog and a bottle of wine :toast:
I don't have to cook.
I don't have to clean.
I don't have to do ANYTHING :bounce::bounce:

21. Ack! There's a middle-age-complex -inducing label! |
|
Between that and my friend insisting that I AM a "soccer mom", because I DO have a kid in soccer, I may have an identity crisis in short order.

I was in a bar with my brother and some of his friends, a young guy walks up to me and says "You are so hot", to which I replied "How old are you, 12?". Not only was his opening line a little clunky, he also looked as if he only had a passing acquaintance with the need to shave. Where were these guys when I was 21 and single (oh and drunk and desperate;) )

When MrLaraMN gets hit on. I just sit back, watch, and laugh while he squirms. And I don't come rescue him, either; it's way too funny to watch.

In fact, his getting hit on factor went exponential when we got married and he had a ring on.
I don't always wear my rings, and I've noticed I'm far more likely to get hit on when I AM wearing them. What pigs.
