Tarantino casts Britney as a killer lesbian stripper in his remake of "Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!"

Britney Spears is being lined up to play a killer lesbian stripper in the Quentin Tarantino's next movie, it has been reported.

The singer was apparently chosen by the Pulp Fiction director to play dancer Varla in a remake of the 1965 cult film Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!

The movie sees three thrill-seeking strippers encountering a young couple in the desert.

Spears' character murders the boyfriend with her bare hands before taking the girlfriend hostage. The troubled singer will also have sex scenes with another girl before the drama ends in a blood-bath.

Tarantino is in discussions with other Hollywood stars to take the roles of the remaining two strippers.

A source said: "Quentin is convinced Britney will be brilliant. She's delighted. She thinks it could turn her career around.

"It is perfect Tarantino material. He wanted to get Britney first. She's playing the most important character."

1. I'm very skeptical about the quality of her performance
But if anyone can make this work it is Tarantino.

11. There wasn't much great acting in the original.
The great acting wasn't really what that movie....nor the remake, I suspect...was about. :)

What would Courtney Love know about being a stripper turned drug addict?

10. Sounds awesome, but I wish they would quit it with the fucking remakes
How hard can it be to write a killer lesbian stripper movie?

It's kinda too bad Tarantino got her first. Spears would have been well suited for a role in Zombie's "Werewolf Women of the SS."

13. I see he's moved into remakes now
Instead of stealing other people's ideas and passing them off as his own.

No one should make remakes of Russ Meyer films. It should be punishable by death.

14. Yeah! And Kurosawa totally ripped off King Lear!
That hack bastard!

Anyway, I would have thought Meyer's films to be fundamentally "unremakable" in any case.

19. Hopefully it will be a flop, and they will learn their lesson.
If something works, don't fix it. "Pussycat!" does have some flaws, such as a few weak points in the script and a few moments of unconvincing acting, but these are not enough to derail it or justify re-filming it. The action, direction, filming and editing are all top-drawer. And "Pussycat!" has become a cult classic with a small but loyal following. It's seeped into wider cultures already, and to try to replace it with a new version of it is like replacing "the real thing" with "a new artificial cheap plastic version of it" which is never the same. With Tarantino at the helm, he's certain to destroy it, so will probably play for one weekend and then be consigned to the clearance bins.

32. There's no explicit nudity in the original, and only a minimum of bloodshed
There is plenty of cartoon violence in the original, but almost no gore (one stabbing but that's pretty much it as far as blood). There are no private parts exposed and no explicit sex scenes, but many implied and almost-but-got-interrupted before anything could really happen sex scenes. Different from most Russ Meyer films.

16. NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
Quentin Tarantino going anywhere near "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" is like letting a 4-week old baby play with a priceless 1000-year-old ming vas. It's like letting a rabid dog repaint the Sistine Chapel. It's like letting Rush Limbaugh rewrite "The Grapes of Wrath."

First they let Gus Van Zant go after "Psycho." Now they are letting Quentin Tarantino go after "Pussycat!?" Who the FUCK does he think he is? Please someone STOP THEM before it's too late. SOME THINGS ARE SACRED GROUND AND SHOULD NOT BE TOUCHED.

18. I'm actually starting to cry bitter, angry tears at the news that Quentin Tarantino is involved.
The thought of my "Faster, Pussycat!," one of the milestones of my movie-watching career, being mangled by the likes of Quentin Tarantino, signals the end of human civilization. A film which I picked out at random in the video store, because I thought it would be unintentionally funny in an Edward D. Wood way. It turned out to be anything but. And I'm not even the biggest fan - I have a friend who has watched it more than 70 times and can recite the entire script of it or any scene on request, and he even went and visited Russ Meyer when he was still alive and bought an autographed copy of the VHS tape of it.

If anyone is ever allowed to re-film "Pussycat!" it should be John Waters, since he loves it and would do justice to it. All Quentin Tarantino could ever do would be to leave a big brown smear all over it.

40. "Pulp Fiction" is only watchable for one viewing, then it's dead.
Same for "Fargo" and "The Big Lebowski." Those are disposable one-shot junk films. In the case of "Lebowski" it's even difficult to make it through to the end of one viewing. "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill" by contrast is a classic which stands up to repeated viewing, every year or two, indefinitely.
