A dude from Saskatchewan told me "You use a lot of big words" last night |
|
Way to live up to the stereotype, buddy.
For the record, I don't.... I pretty well speak normally.
Tell us your tales of hics!

But, it's full of really wonderful people. And I don't mean that sarcastically.

25. what's wrong with Newfoundland? |
|
Months ago I discovered some young citizens of that province on youtube and thought they were extremely charming people. Moreover, they are in rebellion against what, the Crown? Do we not support young people who feel oppressed?
So what's the beef all about?

Am I to infer that it's merely a prejudice? Sort of like our North-South bickering in the states? Or the Montana-NoDak stuff?

I asked two simple questions about Canada politics, and got rude answers both times. I'll assume you're using Mom's computer or something like that, and perhaps an adult will tell me about the provincial prejudices some other time.

33. (my original post was a joke) |
|
(that's why I used the hide smilie)
Newfies are kind of like how we in the US think of, say, rural backwater southerners.
Except, of course, that people from Newfoundland are likely three or four times more educated than the average American. Certainly three or four times more educated than a rural backwater southerner.

23. LOL. Both are very long words |
|
You'd think their residents would be accustomed to verbosity.
If you can say (or spell) Saskatchewan or Mississippi how hard can other big words be?

"British Parlaiment with a two drink minimum" It gets really rowdy and there's yelling and people challenging other people to fights. 12. I was in this ghastly town right on the PA side of the PA-WV border. I needed gasoline. |
|
I pull up to the Texaco and notice that the two women standing next to their cars and talking across a pump island are deeply entwined in conversation. I guess the Texaco is where they like to hang out. I should have driven away when I noticed that not only did the gas pumps not take credit cards; they also only had options for regular and plus grades of gasoline. Since I was borrowing the car I was driving and the gas lid had the instructions to use premium only, I thought that plus might be adequate but that regular wouldn't be good enough. I went into the building and gave the clerk $20 for pump 3. I go outside and try to start fueling. The gasoline barely tricked out the hose and after about 30 seconds the clerk waves to me and lets me know that they don't stock the plus grade. I go back, retrieve my 20 and drive off to the relatively lavish WV truck-stop 15 miles down the highway.
