I threw my back out at work yesterday
Spent all day today going to the worker's comp doc (complete waste of about 4 hours of my time - they didn't even give me any decent pain killers), then to work to fill out forms that no one could find (another hour), then to the pharmacy to pick up the crappy pain meds I did get (45 minutes).

:nuke:

Shoot me now.

1. Ow. I had a great massage today. It's been 30 some years
since I was rear-ended (no jokes) 3 times in 4 years in Los Angeles. After the first episode, I thought I was fine until two weeks later and I bent down at my desk to pick up a pencil that had fallen
and I was in such pain I couldn't straighten up. Man, I know what you mean about pain.

Turns out I suffered whiplash from that first accident and it was made worse each time
I got hit again. Over the years I've discovered the only way to prevent repeat spasms is from walking.
Whenever I get anxious about things--stressed out--those muscles tense up and it's pain again.

Over the weekend my neck muscles were so tight I started to have pain in my left arm and jaw.
Once my neck cracked, the symptoms disappeared. Boy, was I glad, because those symptoms
can also mean heart problems--especially in women.

So--take it easy.

7. same tale as mine. all mine was low back though, original injury picking up something
I shouldn't have in an improper lifting fashion.

many re irritations over the years. Manageable but annoying and painful.

Then I was bumped from behind, and it was a small bump, no dents in my car and like you I didn't really feel pain until about a month later.

The ultimate pain breaker was combined Rx level Ibuprofin and a basic muscle relaxer. Once that spasm got broken, I also went on the walking program. And I have deep tissue massage every 2 weeks, and like you, the neck pop is heaven. I go Wed and I can't wait.

I can get some relief from those heat rubs too.

2. Well, you may be better off.

I burned my foot severely, when I made soup for my mom when she had cataract surgery back in January. I picked the pot up off the stove and splashed some on my foot, ended up in the ER with second degree burns. But the pain meds that they gave me made me throw up. So I never took them anymore, despite a very kind doctor... And I'm willing to be shot now, too...:hi:

Sorry, typo. But I totally sympathize. You can have my pain meds... They worked, but also made me sick...:-(

3. Sorry about the burns
But I do fine with pain meds - a broken back, neck surgery and 2 knee surgeries have given me ample experience. No barfing, just a happy head.

I think I'd rather have the back pain than burns, though.

4. Thank you. It was awful.
I walked with a cane and was on crutches. I have lots of pain meds left over, which I'm more than willing to share, which I have. I just can't take them, and my kind doctor gave me lower and lower doses, so I wouldn't become addicted to them. No problem. They made me sick. Have you seen a chiropractor? I've also seen an acupuncturist, for pain. That worked for me...

5. I went to my chiropractor after all the other crap
I would have preferred to do that first but since I did it at work, I had to jump through all the official hoops. The chiro helped and I'm seeing him again tomorrow.

I'd been wishing for some time off from work - proving once again that you need to be careful what you wish for!

6. I had an auto accident when I first started driving, and my chiropractor said that I should have
seen him then. This guy, a school principal, of all things, hit me head on, then lied about it in court. My Dad got me a lawyer, and we won, no big surprise. But the chiropractor helped me out a lot, but I chose the acupuncturist, since he helped me more, even though the pain help was short-lived, just made me feel better that day.

My sympathies are with you, since I've been there, with chronic pain, but I had three surgeries, in seven years, and the last one worked, finally. My acupuncturist gave me DMSO, which was a "60 Minutes" story, but has no remunerations for the pharmaceutical companies, so it's not promoted, but it sure helped me. I hope that you have the same fortunate outcome. And I'm here, for you, anytime...

8. I feel your pain
Literally. I threw my back out on Saturday. It was Haruka's fault.

BTW, we now have diesel in the oil tank. I'm so glad we don't have to fill up the tank.

10. I'm sorry for what you're going through
I hurt my back at some point recently at work (I think I know the precise moment, or at least the precise moment when I felt excruciating pain) and have been hurting ever since. I'm now (with the help of Bi-Baby) going to select a PCP I hopefully feel comfortable with to at least get checked out (not to mention get a physical).

I'm a "tough it out" person, but I think it's time to see someone (and as I said, start getting physicals).

I hope you get the right help, and more importantly, not feel pain.

You've got vibes coming your way at the least.

:hi:
