6. If you're talking about ThomCat, I met him too, just weekend before last,
one amazing, smart and terrific guy. I also met my SO here, and have made some wonderful friends, too, have met several in person. As I said, DU is my home...:-)

2. I've met some wonderful people here. Who I'm proud to call my friends.
That's one thing DU has meant to me.

And I have gotten some good advice from people in the Mental Health forum about my depression and how to best deal with it. Those times when I've been very down, emotionally.

4. DUers are the best people in the world.
I've sought help or advice here and have never been let down. So I always try to pay it forward whenever I can. DUers are always here, day or night, whether you are looking for LBN or you're worried, wondering if your pet is sick. Good for you. It's people like you who make DU the great place it is. I tell people that DU is my home...

5. in some way you know you're not alone
It was particulary comforting in the fall of 2001, Spring of 2003, late fall of 2004.

And yeah, sometimes people share with you that in some way you've helped them, and that's the best.

7. Kitten Pics.
j/k.

Honestly, intellectual conversation. I'm surrounded by anti-intellectuals all day long and people who treat me like crap because I do a job I love (sometimes) just because it's a job which requires skill/talent more than brains...as such, it's a job that is largely done by people with less education than I have.

Ergo, I must be dumb.

8. Like-minded (mostly; ;) ) people! The humor, the info, the analyses. But it all pales next to:
"DONT TUTCH THE BUT!"

The people are nice and it's usually very interesting and very silly.

10. Two things:
DU makes me feel like I'm not alone, politically/philosophically speaking. It's been the greatest comfort since 2004 and my gratitude is immense. Then there's the Lounge community and the dear people there. We are a motley crew and sometimes not always on our best behavior, but when I need moral support I can always turn to Loungers for love, advice and perspective.

DU, I love you. It's really kinda pathetic, how much.

11. Your smiling posts, and California Peggy, of course!
And everyone else! Except some people in GD:P who raise my bloodpressure. I love 'em, but they're killin' me!

I just like knowing there are others who see the world I do. I don't come in contact with them very often in my non-cyber life.
