A Saturn Outlook

I think it will be alright. Thanks for all your input everyone. Am I glad Saturn doesn't "applaud" you off the lot anymore.

2. It's a really, really dark red/garnet.
Called Black Cherry. I usually get black or white so I decided to be really "wild" this time. ;)

17. It is close to that, but is really hard to see the red in person.
I had an eggplant caravan once (although they had just changed the name to "deep cranberry" lol) and this is the same color only a darker shade. I was worried that I was looking at it wrong because I had one of 4549802 brazillion of those minivans. :)

:hi: I was impressed in that one of my cousins has one that he bought in 1997 and never had any repairs (other than brakes, and routine maintenance) done. They're still driving it.

10. Mine's a '97 SW1 and the only things I've ever needed were an alternator and belt.
Not bad considering that it's got 165K miles and I beat the hell out of it.

28. Sadly, the Saturn "family" is no more...
Edited on Fri Aug-15-08 04:14 PM by tokenlib
No more "homecomings" of Saturn owners in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Spring Hill is just another GM plant. The new "American" car company now has the Astra from Belgium. They dumped the economical and dependable image for base prices thousand of dollars higher. They sold out to the Motor Trend "snobs" and dumped polymer panels (now Smart has the safety cage and the polymer panels).. The mileage ratings are lower, insurance rates are higher, and their cars are simply other GM models with minor changes.

Saturn has sold its soul. They are no longer special or unique. They dumped "economical, dependable, and affordable" just before their original image would become fashionable again.

Not that the Outlook isn't a fine vehicle..it is made in Michigan in a more environmentally friendly GM plant. But it is not a uniquely Saturn vehicle like the Spring Hill models.

:)

The sales staff (of course I was giving them money so...) was really nice, I was given 4 oil changes and they promised they wouldn't clap for me as I drove off the lot. ;)

...and my Daddy makes the axles. Well, at least until he retires in December.

34. MrG didn't marry him no dummy...
Unless you ask a Freeper, of course. :)

It's the XR...

3.6, V6 with 275 HP. So far, it handles quite a bit better than the comparable 05 Pacifica we had, which was woefully underpowered. I went for FW instead of AW because I wasn't going to pay 6 grand for something I didn't really need and keeping value isn't at issue. In short, no buyer's remorse...yet.

The funny thing is, I wasn't happy about the idea of a minivan, but they are practical. As I was reading MotorTrend, it said the Outlook is perfect for the mini-van averse family. That would be us. :)

27. Good deal, MrsG. We're lucky that we only have the one kid to cart around, so
we are able to go with a car instead of having to have a minivan / SUV / crossover type of vehicle.

But if we did have to, your pick would have been in our list.

Enjoy!

43. "Body locked up getting in or out?" Have back problems, do you? That's what made Mrs R
give up the Acura RSX I gave her for her birthday. She loved that little car, but developed back problems for the first time in her life, so it got to be more trouble than in was worth.

So I know what you mean.
