Each decade of the 20th century had at least one signature... |
|
The 1960s has that hippie era. The 1970s had disco. Understandable; from 1970 to 1976 there's precious little that has any soul to it... The early 1980s had new wave, though anything after 1984 is forgettable... The 1990s... well, I can only think of that Spin Doctors song and then that godawful Barbie Girl song to define that decade with... a shame as Stakka Bo and the Shamen did a better job at defining *something*...
The 2000s seems to be fairly devoid of anything too.

1. It will have to be a rap tune, probably. |
|
It has really come into it's own.

2. "Burn Hollywood Burn"? Or the one where MC Hammer is lambasted for selling out... |
|
Which makes sense; once Hammer got grilled like the sandwich I ate for lunch, it's amazing how many people came out to hawk cheap soda pop too... right Flava?
Worse, assuming we get to old age and live in an old folx home, imagine all us geezers listening to "911 is a Joke"...
