Do you have messy or neat handwriting?
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 06:31 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
My handwriting is a scrawl and always has been--legible, but just barely. Doesn't win any prizes for beauty. :)

ETA: I also write very quickly--it's extremely trying for me to sit there and diligently write out letter after letter. I see people who write slowly and want to kill myself watching them.

1. Both
It can be very neat but if I'm just writing notes to myself, it tends to be a mess that even I have a hard time deciphering.

3. mine is a loopy mess.
I usually only write in cursive and I've been told that my lowercase l,e,t,b,d,f,o,m and n are indistinguishable.

7. I generally write somewhat messy
If I am just thinking about what I am writing.
If I purposely try to write neatly, I usually can. This can only be done though if what I am writing doesn't require much thought and I can spend time doing it. Thinking about forming the letters well interferes with my thinking about what I am writing.

9. horrendously awful
and years of using the computer instead of writing longhand has made it nearly illegible. You certainly can't tell that I was taught by nuns (they'd probably rather not claim me anyway).

12. Either
I studied to be a draftsman all through high school and into college, and (he said, with geeky pride) I got the highest marks in the program in lettering. To this day, if I feel like it, I can letter like an architect in the days before CAD.

However, years of taking notes as a reporter rendered my handwriting nearly illegible, even by me. (There were times I'd look at my notes and think, "Wha'd he say?") So it depends on what I'm writing and whether I care.

14. It used to be better
But over the last 10 years using the computer to write and spell check everything, when I do hand write something I notice the difference.

15. I cannot read my handwriting after a day or two...
I made a D in penmanship in 6th grade, and greatest insult of all, I was reprimanded at a hospital I worked at in 1977 because the doctors could not read MY notes in a chart.

16. I am a handwriting fussbudget
I print everything, in fact, because I can't make my handwriting uniform enough to suit me.

Translation: I'm a weirdo.

18. messy, just plain bad
My handwriting looks like a 10 year old.. who's trying to learn cursive.. and failing.. and can't write in straight lines.. or stay the same size..

19. Pretty awful
I've worked to get my signature (which I use daily) down to about 2 letters, and squiggly lines.

After years of writing just my sig (not including my constant block letter print writing) I tried to write a message in a card (cursive), and it was horrendous.
