Ok, that's the oddest incentive for taking a survey... |
|
So I ordered all of these comic books from the Federal Reserve last year, about Econ topics. I get an email asking me to take a survey on the effectiveness, etc of the comics...And what will I be getting in the mail in return for taking the survey?
...
A bag of shredded currency.
:wtf:
and...
Crazy. Of course, it totally made me want to take the survey, so I did. :D

1. I have a bag of shredded currency. |
|
It's a bag about 2 in. by 3 in. filled with shredded bills. I got it while touring the Federal Reserve Bank in San Antonio in 1987 or so. It's one of those things that people seem to like, although it's pretty lame in reality.

2. Well, I'll be in good company then! |
|
Still...what a weird reward for taking a 5 minute survey. But, I'm in the running for 1 of 3 NY Fed Gym Bags! :D

I'm a sucker for gym bags. I have several. A Fed gym bag would be awesome.

4. This might be the best thing I've ever read on the DU |
|
Comic books from the Federal Reserve about Econ. topics. Email surveys about the "effectiveness" of the comics. Bags of shredded currency.

15. I worked at the fed center in Buffalo for a few years |
|
and that is one of the places where they shred money. It seemed like there was a lot of interest in making money from shredded money. But what I remember most was that they took really severe precautions in that department, and had strict rules about who could handle the shredded money and what they could do with it.
I think most of those rules were there to make sure the money actually got shredded, of course. But they took their security very seriously from beginning to end. Even now with all the post 9/11 stupidity, I have never seen security like what I saw working at the fed.
The shredded money was pretty cool though. There seemed to be a lot of demand for it.
